About this deal

The book starts with the camp counsellors getting on to a van and we get introduced to each of them. When they finally reach the camp, they are each given a piece of paper on which the duty they must do is written. Jarrett meets the Orfaos, a family which includes my personal favourite character, Eric, who is a cancer patient, as are many of the other kids at Camp Sunshine. The character of Eric is my favourite because the author has made his personality individual and special, meaning that it is easier to connect to him as a character. The way he is presented, with his character quirks and humorous moments, makes him seem believable. And Philip and Lizzie seem to have some skeletons in their past as well. Although Philip retired due to health issues, Lizzie seems to believe there is more to his story than he is telling her which breaks her heart that he feels he needs to keep secrets from her. Don't believe me? Imagine if you will, if Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning had been a standalone. Don't just shrug and move on, GO THERE. Because I have been to that bellow to the book gods place thanks to this book. Sunshine has no shortage of those scenes. When Sunshine meets Con. There was no doubt that this book was going down in my favorites list after that scene.

Catalina is a fiercely independent woman who ran away from her past but now she has to face it at her sister’s wedding where her former fiance is the best man. To me, you choose to be either a stripper or a sex worker, and there’s no grey area. If you perform any kind of sexual act with a man for money, you’re no longer an exotic dancer because you have crossed that line."To keep things short, I have to say that I ended up being surprisingly underwhelmed by Death In The Sunshine. I expected a new favorite, but instead sadly ended up with a dud... Repetition and bland characters don't exactly call for enticing reading, and I don't think I will be continuing the series at this point. I read a good amount of self improvement and devotional books and The Sunshine Mind: 100 Days to Finding the Hope and Joy You Want is definitely one of the better ones I've read! The book itself is bright and cheery...yellow...sunshine...joy and hope. Also, Steph Broadribb's writing got in the way of her story some because of how she had British phraseology in play when the characters in a given situation were Americans. Sorry, love, you need to write everything in American English except for what the British characters are saying and/or thinking. (A descriptive sentence about a car by the kerb and several references to "hospital" instead of "the hospital" were particuarly irksome.) That's me saying this as a real Anglophile, too! The Cinnamon Roll Queen wasn't going to be bought off by a fast food hamburger—supposing I ate hamburgers, which I didn't, and after tonight, even if I had, id've given them up—but Prime Time was a twenty-four-hour gourmet deli. In this first Sunshine Simpson story, we have a heart-warming, inclusive, delight of a book that will be a great addition to any primary school library. I truly hope there are more to come! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Overall, the story is likely to be interesting and enjoyable for most middle grade readers, not least because Sunshine's preoccupations, worries and occasional awkwardness may feel quite relatable to some young readers. The writer has done a great job of weaving in a variety of issues that the children of today are likely to encounter into the easy-to-read narrative, which flows well.Yes this book may not be for everyone it does have a target audience. For me it is what i needed and i can think of many people that can benefit from this book. I can promise that it almost worked and they were almost home free except they'd miscalculated one thing - my short attention span. Sure the ice cream was delicious and kept me entertained but there was just so much of it and the mint ice cream was just a little too much in ratio to the choc chip that I like and even the chocolate sauce couldn't entirely keep my concentration. this is intended as a genuine question because i have never read/seen any of it, but is this what true blood is like?? this is the sense i get - southern location, accepted and casual reactions to the supernatural mingling with humankind, central woman straddling two worlds and looking good doing it. is this a fair assessment?? i am just curious if this book was an inspiration to a young(er) charlaine harris, or if this is just a common theme in fantasy novels. Each day includes a scripture, author's personal story or notes, ways to get through this trial in life, and so much positivity & best of all it's relatable. For me, Sunshine is like if Go Ask Alice was a good book. It's a novel based on the writing of a young woman who dies under extraordinary circumstances. The difference is that Sunshine takes on bone cancer rather than drugs, and it's actually based on a real person's life. At this point, the truthiness of Alice appears to be known to everyone except the book's publicity team. With Sunshine, we not only have proof of its general truth, we know the name of the woman--Jacquelyn Helton--whose story inspired the book.

Death in the Sunshine is a terrific cozy filled with murder, mayhem and mystery. Enough so that I am sure book two will continue to give us more information about the retirees’ past lives as they continue to try and enjoy The Homestead. Anyway, the premise was great. The execution? Let's say not so much. Some of the characters were just flat-out unlikeable, a few were unbelievable and/or caricatures of a type, and there was _way_ too much angsty deep dark secret malarkey going on for my taste. Like, I literally started rolling my eyes any time any of those dead horses got beaten again after about a third of the way through the book.Since this is the first of a series it suffers from this need to set the scene in book one. On the basis of this initial novel I would say another episode would be welcome and read with some anticipation. I pictured Con the vampire to look like Dave Gahan during the Songs of Faith and Devotion Depeche Mode era. ( Depeche Mode's In Your Room video, for example.) Um I kinda have a type. Dave Gahan/Jeremy Northam/Michael Imperioli/Mitchell on uk Being Human show (sigh they are doing an American remake). (Mitchell is a wonderful vampire character. I love his struggles to be human. Much like humanity struggles to be human. Badly.) Yeah, he's sexy but that's just me being a pervert. The point of this story was never about romance. It's just about attraction. Mervyn Peake wrote in his wonderful Gormenghast books that Fuchsia was naturally more attracted to the dark than to the light. It's the way that some people grow in directions.
