She says their neighbours' homes have burnt down, but it appears their home is saved. For many years firefighters sat on the sides of the fire engines, or even stood on the rear of the vehicles, exposed to the elements. This arrangement was uncomfortable and dangerous (some firefighters were thrown to their deaths when their fire engines made sharp turns on the road), and today nearly all fire engines have fully enclosed seating areas for their crews.

July 20, 2021 at 8:35 PM TNF Helicopter 514 is over the reported smoke, reports a 50 by 50 ft ground fire, burning in timber and ground litter – active on all sides. The fire is on a west aspect, light wind. Best access is off the Deer Creek Powerhouse and then hike in.

July 12, 2021 at 10:20 AM Heatwave continues today. Significant temperatures continue across interior northern California today which combined with the very warm overnight lows will result in widespread moderate to high heat risk. Slight cooling is forecast today and again Tuesday, especially for portions of the Delta, southern Sacramento Valley, and northern San Joaquin Valley, though temperatures will still be hot elsewhere with widespread high to moderate heat risk. Cooling continues through the week with near normal temperatures forecast by midweek. July 15, 2021 at 1:15 PM A car reportedly “exploded” on Washington Road 1 mile before Hwy 20. Emergency services are at scene.
