About this deal

Personally I have been really happy using the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream! I find it very soothing especially when my skin is reactive or sensitive after exfoliating and doesn’t cause my acne prone face to breakout. I’ve also found this works great under makeup and as a primer, there is no pilling at all. It can take a couple of minutes to fully absorb which I am ok with. I would have liked a pump bottle as I don’t really like using products in jars, (I worry too much about germs getting in the products) but clearly it's not a deal breaker for me as I am on my third jar.

If you have oily skin, I would suggest trying the Tatcha Water Cream that’s water-based and more lightweight ( review here). Is Soon Jung barrier cream good? Star Ingredients - Panthenol (form of Vitamin B5 that moisturises, anti-inflammatory, repairs), Green Tea Leaf Extract (antimicrobial, antioxidant, hydrating, anti-inflammation), Sunflower Seed Oil (rich in antioxidants, soothing, unclogs pores, evens skin tone) I have to admit, I have not tried the previous formulation as there were two ingredients that are irritating for some, and me being one of them made me avoid it. In the previous formulation the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream had Bitter Orange (essential oil) and Shea Butter , both ingredients can be irritating for certain skin types. Personally, my face does not like Shea Butter as I will break out the next day. So I am extremely happy they have removed these two ingredients, removing the shea butter may have possibly changed the texture but this one has a luxurious rich creamy gel texture. They also added more gentle and soothing skin ingredients, such as Allantoin a soothing and protecting ingredient, Green Tea a soothing antioxidant and Glucose (humectant). All these changes make this moisturizer less irritating and a really great choice for sensitive skin types. Needless to say I much prefer this updated formula. These include: Amodimethicone, Behenoxy Dimethicone, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Cetearyl Methicone, Cetyl Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethiconol, Methicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Stearyl Dimethicone, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone. It is perfect to seal in your serums or actives, perfect to pair with acid treatments because this is so gentle and basic

Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract: A traditional Chinese herbal medicine loaded with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory flavonoids such as baicalin, baicalein, and wogonin . If that would not be enough, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract is also claimed to have antimicrobial and antifungal properties (also against P.acnes and Malassezia furfur ) as well as some skin-brightening activity. A multi-functional skin-good The EU Allergen Free label is for the 26 ingredients identified by the EU SCCS and products will be only flagged if a suspected ingredient is on it's ingredient list. It is possible for cosmetics to contain one of the suspect ingredients without it appearing on the ingredient list due to it not reaching the concentration threshold to disclose it and cosmetic manufacturers choice to not disclose it. Allantoin: A soothing, skin-softening and protecting ingredient, it can also promote wound healing. For the same reasons they are popularly used, they are also commonly avoided. Anecdotally, many individuals have reported that Silicones cause/excerbate breakouts, irritation, cause a feeling of skin being unable to breathe, cause clumping of cosmetic products and find it difficult to wash off. As a result, those who find them problematic are avoiding them and increasingly, cosmetic companies are avoiding them as well.

Formulation: Cruelty-free, mineral oil-free, free of color additives, synthetic perfume, parabens, harsh alcohols, common allergens, silicones or sulfates If not, don't worry about it - they do have had one of the longest safety records as preservatives! The nourishing formula is free of artificial fragrance, parabens, mineral oil, artificial color, animal products, and is vegan and cruelty-free. However some sulfates are so good at their job, they can wash off your skin’s own natural oils that keep it moisturised and protected which can lead to dryness and irritation. Hero ingredients include panthenol, which moisturizes, softens, and reduces stress on the skin; madecassoside, which is derived from calming centella asiatica (cica); and green tea extract, which boasts antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. These ingredients work together to repair damaged skin, moisturize, protect, and bring much-needed relief.
