About this deal

the mfsl sounds more like clear cd and a bit colder next to the really nice and warm 1u press. even the cover print is kind of blurry and looks like a bootleg print next to the beautiful textured original 1u cover with the phosphorescent blue colour.

DSOTM - Early UK (A2/B2-B3/B3) and MFSL beat reissues. Japanese PRO USE also good if you like high end and less bass but expensive. Reissues are EQd too high but still good starters. a b Erlewine, Stephen Thomas. " Meddle – Pink Floyd". AllMusic. Archived from the original on 11 May 2021 . Retrieved 21 May 2021. Part of Floyd's massive success with Dark Side of the Moon was their tendency to sample sounds that - as incongruent as they might have been at first listen - somehow perfectly accompanied the music they made. We get a taste of that on Fearless as the Liverpool FC iconic supporter chant "You'll Never Walk Alone" features at a couple of points during the song, including the outro. YNWA may be something of a cliche 45 years later, (and I write as most certainly not a fan of that particular football club!) but Floyd obviously saw something in it before it became almost annoyingly ubiquitous. This was some years before the Kop would be watching their heroes clean up trophies both domestically and abroad. Once again, Waters and co were well ahead of their time.

Fearless” is another matter. It focuses on the quiet dignity of an “idiot” following his own path up a hill while a crowd jeers from below that he’ll never make the top. As with much of Meddle, the guitar seems to proceed in slow motion, matching his humble climb, a stately ascending riff with ringing open strings that Waters played using an alternate tuning Barrett taught him years earlier. Gilmour takes the lead vocal, and his sleepy delivery—which usually implies a state of stoned beatitude—instead conveys sadness and futility beneath the determination. “Fearless” is among Pink Floyd’s greatest and most moving songs, heartbreaking even as the idiot seems to prevail over the voices that tell him he won’t. The album's title Meddle is a play on words: a medal, and to interfere. [16] Storm Thorgerson of the art-design group Hipgnosis originally suggested a close-up shot of a baboon's anus for the album cover photograph. He was overruled by the band, who informed him via an intercontinental telephone call while on tour in Japan that they would rather have "an ear underwater". [22] The cover image was photographed by Bob Dowling. The image represents an ear, underwater, collecting waves of sound (represented by ripples in the water). [16] Thorgerson later expressed dissatisfaction with the cover, claiming it to be his least favourite Pink Floyd album sleeve: "I think Meddle is a much better album than its cover". [23] Thorgerson's colleague Aubrey Powell shared his sentiments, saying: " Meddle was a mess. I hated that cover. I don't think we did them justice with that at all; it's half-hearted." [24] The gatefold contains a group photograph of the band, which would be their last until 1987's A Momentary Lapse of Reason. [23] Release [ edit ]
