About this deal

If you’re lover of all things (non-alcoholic!) wine, take a look at the best virgin Sangria recipe. Alcohol free mulled wine omits the alcohol and uses something else in it's place, often juice. For this recipe I have come up with 2 variations. One with juice, which is perfect for both kids and adults. Then one with alcohol free red wine, which is more for adults and a touch closer to the real thing. Both are equally delicious! Ingredients you'll need Do NOT boil the Glühwein. Glühwein is supposed to ‘glow’ and steam, but not boil. Bring it to the boil and then turn down the heat. Make some Glühwein with tea this Christmas!

The best wine for making homemade Gluhwein is burgundy wine or a red wine blend: this is not the time for fancy wines. A cheap bottle of red is great! Cut oranges and ginger root into 1/8-in. slices, and bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 3 to 4 hours at 170°. Sweetener: Feel free to add your favorite sweetener to taste. Sugar is classic, but I prefer to naturally sweeten mine with either maple syrup or honey.

The delectable aromas of blended spices and fruit are the perfect way to welcome guests in the holiday season. Creating your own mulling spice mix is easy, whether you're using the mix for drinkable treats or stovetop scents.

Hibiscus tea is a herbal infusion from the dried calyx (or sepals) of the roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa ). Sweet in flavour, with hints of cranberry, hibiscus tea is high in Vitamin C, and studies have shown that it can help to reduce blood pressure. Ideal as a gift: this would make a beautiful Christmas gift, given in a pretty jar with some festive ribbon. I gifted it to a pregnant friend recently and she loved it. My dad's side of the family is from Hamburg, Germany... making this is a very special family recipe! This recipe is definitely the "easy" way to make hot German wine by using the Gluhfix tea bags.

If you have extra Gluhfix tea bags you can use them with plain boiling water to make a mulled wine tea. 🙂On a more serious note, Glühwein can be quite strong, particularly if you are not used to it. Adding tea makes the Glühwein milder, but the tea does not overpower the flavours of the spices. It is a traditional warm spiced wine, often called German mulled wine, that is served in mugs as a cheery warm drink during the winter months throughout Germany and parts of France. Easy. Homemade mulled wine is so simple to make with just 5 minutes prep and can be made in a large batch. Divine to drink: I don't know about you, but I can think of nothing better than sitting by the fire drinking a huge mug of non-alcoholic mulled wine - simply bliss! The addition of watching the Christmas tree lights twinkle would be divine!

If you prefer your Glühwein stronger (in alcohol), add a shot or two of rum or amaretto to the pot or a shot to the mug. Taste the Glühwein with tea and adjust your sugar as necessary. Hibiscus flowers ( UK Link / US Link ) and whole rosehips ( UK Link / US Link ). To make mulled wine non alcoholic these loose herbal teas are used to replace red wine. They have a similar sweet and tart flavour to cranberries. Glühwein sweetness is a matter of personal preference. Some purists prefer almost no sugar, others like their Glühwein to be almost syrupy. I like mine a little milder – around the 125 g amount. I find that with the vanilla, it does not need to be too much sugar. Start with a small amount then add bit-by-bit after taste testing to make sure you obtain the level you want. Simple: this recipe is oh so easy to make - you really can't mess it up! Just pop all the ingredients in a slow cooker or saucepan and turn it on. Wait awhile and you're ready to go. Add garnishes: For a festive touch, feel free to sprinkle some fresh cranberries in the pot a few minutes before serving. Now that you have a holiday drink, try this holiday Brownie Brittle Recipe (Paleo!) How long does this last? Versatile: there are plenty of variations in this recipe, so you can adjust both the ingredients and the cooking method to whichever you prefer. To make the mulled wine pouch, put a combination of all the ingredients in the centre of a piece of cheesecloth or muslin, then tie up neatly to seal, so it looks a bit like an old money bag; note that all the ingredients are optional, so adjust the quantities to suit your own taste.
