Choosing the right litter box for your cat is important if you want them to use it reliably. Especially when you’re litter training a new cat or kitten. We’ve tested all kinds of cat litter to find the best, we’ve also tested litter bins, hidden litter boxes, litter mats, litter freshers and cat litter scoops over the years.
No matter how fancy or simple you decide to go with it, a litter box will be useless if your kitty doesn't know how to use it! How to Teach Your Kitty to Use a Sifting Litter Box The Omega Paw Roll’N Clean Cat Litter Box is a self-cleaning litter box, though not fully automatic. It features an internal grill that scoops clumped waste when you tilt the box on its side, depositing it in a pull-out waste collection tray. Though this litter system may not be your typical sifting litter box, it performs a similar function in that liquid waste filters down through the pellets into a pee pad below. When the pad becomes saturated, you simply remove and discard it then replace it with a fresh one. Reduce litter waste. When you use the sifting pan to gather clumps, clean cat litter will fall through so it can be reused.Don’t just look at how many stars a customer gives the product you’re interested in, as they could be providing a bad rating due to a problem that has nothing to do with the product itself — like the condition of the box that the product was shipped in. Focus on the features and functions that are being reviewed to get an understanding of what you might expect yourself out of the litter box if you decide to invest in it. It feels reassuringly well made and it has a detatchable rim that creates a lip on the inside of the litter tray. This prevents litter from spilling over the sides as your cat digs and moves their litter around. Many sifting litter boxes have useful features such as covers for odor control or raised sides so that litter doesn’t get spread around.Though the litter is easy to keep clean with sifting boxes, you will still need to clean the several trays and other components it might contain. As a general rule, the simpler the system, the easier it is to clean, with one important exception. There are several brands of disposable sifting boxes that have a paper mache construction. When it arrived, our test cat Nico was pretty inquisitive. That said, it did take him a while to get in and use it. We ended up having to take some of his used litter from their normal tray and put it in the PetKit to get him to recognise it as a toilet. We also kept his old litter tray next to it to avoid any accidents.
