The first brand-new Duo Crisp Ultimate Lid that we unboxed flashed a daunting C6 error almost immediately after turning it on for the first time. We tried unplugging and replugging it, but after just a glimmer of simmering hope, the pot turned cold again.

Other highlights included the sauté function, which, at its highest temperature, is hot enough to sear and seal meat to a good standard. It’s still not quite as fierce as my gas hob, but pretty impressive when compared to other multi cookers I’ve tested previously. I also found the proofing mode very useful for pizza dough, especially at times when the cold weather hampers your dough-rising ability.OK to open lid” message: large, easy-to-read LCD display lets you know when it’s safe to open the lid. The first thing we made in this Instant Pot was a slow-cooked beef chili. Before switching the slow cooker to high for six hours, we made use of the sauté function to brown the beef and soften the onions. The Duo Crisp offers an impressive six heat levels to choose from when sautéing; we opted for level five, which took four minutes to preheat, but was about right for browning our beef.

First of all, the buttons are arranged in a really sensible way that groups all the functions that require the pressure cooking cover on the left and those that require it removed on the right.
