About this deal

Like a lot of routers, the Fritz!Box 7530 AX will automatically prioritise the strongest, most stable connection available, even if it’s not the fastest. This means in practical terms, the further you move away from the 7530 AX, the sooner you’ll be bumped off of the faster 5GHz and moved on to the slower (but more readily available) 2.4GHz band.

This AVM router has a lot of really interesting features, it is very similar to the AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 model that we have thoroughly analyzed in RedesZone, however, it has some fundamental differences that we will explain later. This AVM FRITZ! Box 7530 AX model is an ideal model for your home if you want to have high-performance WiFi 6 connectivity anywhere. Wireless features I am James, a UK-based tech enthusiast and the creative mind behind Mighty Gadget, which I’ve proudly run since 2007. Passionate about all things technology, my expertise spans from computers and networking, to mobile, wearables, and smart home devices. In my academic pursuits, I earned a BSc in Information Systems Design from UCLAN, before advancing my learning with a Master’s Degree in Computing. This advanced study also included Cisco CCNA accreditation, further demonstrating my commitment to understanding and staying ahead of the technology curve. How easy is it to set up the FritzBox 7530 AX? Setting up the Fritz!Box 7530 AX is straightforward and easy. Simply connect the router to your internet modem, plug in the power, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process. The router also comes with an app that can be used for setup and configuration. The only real disappointment for this reviewer is that there isn’t a UK-specific version, only an international model. With the right cables, kindly provided by AVM for this review, it will work with UK phones, and the power supply can be easily converted. More regionally specific solutions are always preferable, obviously. There is something a little ‘old school’ about the FRITZ!Box 7590 AX, but in a good way. It’s a solid solution that has all the technology that most home and small business users would appreciate. That all this technology is crammed into a box just 256mm wide, 200mm deep, and 60mm high is impressive. Its small enough that it can be placed on any flat surface or wall mounted as required. The complexity of this device and the flexibility of its Fritz!OS Linux-based operating system would align well with users that like to get the most out of their equipment. However, for non-technical customers, it might be a little overwhelming. Performance Does the Fritz!Box 7530 AX support Wi-Fi 6? Yes, the Fritz!Box 7530 AX supports Wi-Fi 6, which provides faster speeds and improved network coverage.

The 7590 AX has expanded vertically over its predecessor and has a more pleasant shape that’s reminiscent of telecoms hardware from the 1990s. The Router needs 12v 1.5amps, whereas the power lead I have for the AVM FRITZ!Box 7590 is 12v 2.5amps. The random plugs I have around the house that are 12v 1.5amps didn’t fit this Router. Features / Mesh Media server makes music, pictures and movies available to devices in the home network (DLNA/UPnP AV)

Why is Amazon Eero 6 better than AVM Fritz Box 7590?

The FRITZ!Box 7530 AX includes a telephone system for modern IP-based connections. With DECT you can create a telephone system with up to six cordless phones. There are also ports for connecting your analog telephone or fax machine. Multiple answering machines, online telephone books and numerous convenience features make phone calls via the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX a joy. A variety of connections Set the connection as “DSL line”, set account information to “NO”, the only requirement is to have “Use VLAN for internet access” enabled using “VLAN-ID 10 / PBit 0”, no need to modify the 1/32 DSL ATM settings. WiFi 6 Performance For those that want the telephone features but don’t need to connect as many WiFi clients, the cheaper FRITZ!Box 7530 provides that option, and there is always the older 7590 that can still be found if WiFI 6 isn't a critical requirement. AVM also has a side line in Fritz!-branded smart home devices including smart plugs, and smart radiator thermostats. While these aren’t as well known in the UK as brands like Honeywell and Hive, if you’re keen on being able to control your heating and cut down on bills, there’s the option to do that and control everything via your router. The Upstairs test is taken one storey up and roughly 15 metres away from the router, while the Garden test is approximately 20 metres away, with two closed doors and two load-bearing walls between the router and the clients. Results below are averages, rounded up: Wi-Fi 5 test One of the big features AVM have rolled out over the past few years is the ability to pair up their routers with the new mesh equipped WiFi repeaters. What are the main features of the Fritz Box 7530 AX? The Fritz!Box 7530 AX offers advanced features such as Gigabit Ethernet ports, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, parental controls, VPN support, and guest networks. It also comes with a built-in modem, making it an all-in-one solution for internet access. All of those features plus world-beating performance might have been too much to ask, and so it proved, as the FRITZ!Box 7590 didn't blow away our performance tests. This router has Smart Connect or band-steering, that is, we will have an SSID shared by the two frequency bands, and the router will be in charge of placing us in the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band, depending on the coverage received by the WiFi client. It also supports WiFi roaming if we configure a WiFi Mesh network with the manufacturer’s devices, the roaming makes use of the 802.11k / v standards so that the transition between the Mesh router and the Mesh repeaters is totally transparent. The Router has a slightly unusual 3×3 5Ghz radio, so it should be able to handle a bit more congestion than many 2×2 routers. However, with WiFi 6 clients, you can only connect at 2×2, and this is limited to the 80Mhz channel width giving you a theoretical maximum throughput of 1200Mbps. Our only reservation about all these features is that if you don’t need them, you might be paying more than you need to. The only issue we encountered was that some of the processes inevitably lead to updates and reboots of the router. When these reboots occur, the wizard stops working because the phone can connect to another WiFi service. That’s a general overview of what the 7590 AX offers, but it has some subtle enhancements regarding the telephone functionality. In use
