About this deal

Once you get over number #6, you’ll get the quality grind for French press and cold brew. Use whichever number you prefer according to your brewing style. Grind Quality The balance is the real game changer, as the new burrs will produce excellent coffee with several roast levels and bean types, from light roasts to dark roasts and specialty coffee. PRECISION GRIND QUALITY - Precise particle size is possible with every push of the button thanks to cafe-sized flat burrs and easy grind adjustment with 11 settings and 31 steps total. As for the cup quality, we'd say that the Fellow Ode Gen 2 just pips it, by the smallest of margins. The extra research that has gone into creating Gen 2 really shines through, and what you lose in its inability to grind for espresso, you gain in clear and nuanced filter brews. That's not to say the Wilfa Uniform is bad in any way, though! For the vast majority of 'prosumer' coffee aficionados, the Wilfa Uniform really is an end-game upgrade. The Fellow Ode doesn’t have a zero setting. However, the burrs will touch around the number one setting when new. Meanwhile, it’ll take about 5kg of coffee for this to wear off.

The Fellow Ode is remarkably easy to use. It has an on/off switch and a large stepped dial on the front with 31 settings ranging from fine to coarse. Grinding is as simple as weighing out your beans, selecting your desired grind size on the dial, and pushing the start button. Of course, the styling. The Ode is quite a bit smaller than the Breville, fitting under the cabinets with more room to spare. And, as my girlfriend said the first time she saw the Ode on the counter, "It's cute!"The huge grind adjustment knob is a pleasure to use, although we found ourselves wishing the Ode would go just a tad finer to provide even more flexibility in slowing down flow through the coffee bed when brewing a pour-over with very light-roasted beans. If you’re grinding for AeroPress or Moka pot, we recommend using the finest setting (number one). Meanwhile, you can also use Fellow’s Prismo attachment on the AeroPress to brew an espresso-style shot with crema. Ode knows exactly when the last bean has been ground and automatically shuts itself off. No more awful revving noise when your grinder spins on empty. Trusted Source Awards | Specialty Coffee Association Each year, the Best New Product Awards recognizes the best our industry has to offer in new products that represent quality and add value to specialty coffee within the consumer and commercial fields. PRECISION GRIND QUALITYPrecise particle size is possible with every push of the button thanks to café-sized flat burrs and easy grind adjustment with 11 settings and 31 steps in between.

This grinder is fairly quiet and the noise is a low frequency one, which is much more tolerable to a whine you get from some other products. The speed and quality of the grind is great and I enjoy my coffee much more than I did so before. The Fellow Ode Grinder is undoubtedly the most anticipated coffee grinder of 2020. Interesting, the grinder has good credits accrued to it. In that, it won an SCA award Improved Hopper- The hopper has also been redesigned with steeper feed angles to allow the beans to slide easily into the chute for grinding.

Grind what you need right before you brew. We chopped off the space-hogging hopper to limit your beans’ exposure to staleness-inducing oxygen.

They also grind right down to 250 microns (down from Gen 1's 550 microns and up), which means you can dial in your finest pourover recipes for even more extraction. No more waking up your roommates. From high-quality materials to ditching the noisy gearbox, Ode was designed with quietness in mind. We've said it for years – a good grinder is second only to your choice of beans when it comes to making exceptional coffee. Although the specialty coffee scene is relatively young, certain brands are considered established leaders in the field, and Fellow is one of them. Another convenience: The catch cup for the ground coffee centers easily and is securely held in place under the chute by magnets. This magnetic alignment is particularly handy considering the narrow clearance for the cup between base and chute. Grounds-funneling fins inside the catch cup also make pouring the grounds into even the narrowest of filters easy.

If you weren’t entirely satisfied with the flavor profiles produced by the burrs of the original Fellow Ode, you would likely find significant improvement with the upgrade. Across the range of different brew methods you can grind for, you should have balance, sweetness, and medium clarity. Finer grind settings also increase extraction yield, you can have a more complex cup of coffee.
