About this deal

One of the more cost-effective options on the list, this door brush draught excluder is particularly common and useful for fixing up draughty external doors. The bristles can be cut to fit against the doorframe or floor, allowing it to sweep gently when opened, without dragging across the floor. The most common type of draught excluder you’ll see is one that sits across the bottom of a door. Typically, it will be the same length as the door and tube-shaped (hence a draught excluder is also known as a door sausage or door snake). You might also come across them in a rectangular or triangle shape. The example photographed above (24 by 75cm prior to stuffing) was made using Aldi baby yarn in pale rose and cream – apx. 175m/83yds of each colour

Foam or rubber draught excluders - Ideal for sealing gaps between windows, doors and floorboards, these foam or rubber strips are easy to install, even in small gaps, to prevent warm air from escaping or cool air from creeping in. Chimney draught excluder - These large draught excluders are used to insulate your chimney breast when your fire is not in use, effectively sealing a large source of heat loss whilst reducing audible wind noise too. When heavy winds hit the house and the temperature drops below zero, a properly fitting window is the key to a home that is comfortably warm and free from cold draughts. Such draughts are usually typical of older windows that do not seal properly anymore and produce a constant flow of cold air. tesamoll® Premium Flexible is the ultimate draught excluder seal to put an end to such a situation.Long-lasting silicone sealing tesamoll® Premium Flexible is a self-adhesive premium-quality window sealing profile made of highly flexible and weather resistant silicone. It is extremely resistant against adverse weather, UV rays and ozone and can cope with a wide temperature range between -50°C and +60°C. The outstanding qualities of this weatherproof seal by a guaranteed durability of at least 15 years. The majority of draught excluders are filled with polyester. This makes it easy to open your door even when they are on the floor. They'll just move as you push the door open. If you want something heavier, then we've found a draught excluder that's filled with sand.

The right draught excluder for you will depend on your needs - specifically the source of your draught and the type of heat loss you are experiencing. Here are some things to consider when making your choice:I'm excited to ingorm you that this pattern is going to be shared in an upcoming CAL (Crochet-Along)! Join other crocheters in creating this draught excluder and share your progress and finished products on social media. It's a fun way to connect with other crafters and get inspired by their creativity! Size - Does the draught excluder come in pre-set sizes? If so, you must learn the exact dimensions of the space you’re trying to insulate - whether that's a window, door or gaps between your floorboards. Some draught excluders come in longer lengths that can be cut to size, but it's important to measure carefully to ensure a perfect fit. For the scrappy version you may wish to join your scraps together using a magic knot before starting and/or hold your yarn double to create even more colour variation. The only real catch here is that this type of draught excluder can be more difficult to install over other versions. Installation requires measuring, cutting if necessary and drilling into the door. If you’re not so handy with tools, we’d give this one a miss. Key details – Material: Polyester; Filling: Not specified; Dimensions: 850 x 200mm; Machine Washable: No

Radiator foil works by reflecting the heat from your radiator that would go into the nearest wall. By doing this, radiator foil makes your radiator more efficient. At B&M Stores, we’ve got a great selection of radiator foil. Also available are double-sided door snakes, which have cushioning on either side of a flat part in the middle, which slides under your door. This offers draught protection on both sides. For external doors, there are brush-style excluders that allow for natural ventilation while stopping draughts. The bristles in this type are particularly useful in those instances where the floor is uneven. To help you ensure your comfort and health, B&M Stores have curated a great range of high-quality insulation and draught excluders – including letter box covers, radiator foils, and under door draught excluders. Under Door Draught ExcludersYou could also hang a pair of thermal curtains, which will make a big difference, particularly if your front door opens straight into your living area. Cold may also come in through gaps around the edges of your door so you may need to fill them with foam or a seal, or also consider purchasing a letterbox draught excluder too. Finally, if you really want to go all out, you can get a keyhole cover such as this STORMGUARD one. These are metal discs designed to drop over the hole and keep out the cold. Whether you want to make a monochrome, variegated, scrappy or striped version, the basic pattern is the same.

Keeping your home warm and comfortable has never been more critical. But it’s also never been cheaper. One size fits all tesamoll® Premium Flexible is an extremely flexible silicone window sealing tape that can reliably seal gaps between 1 mm and 7 mm. This makes it a perfect high durability draught excluder especially suited for older windows with both small and large gaps. The only downside to this particular draught excluder is that it isn’t machine washable, which can be an issue for an item that will collect dirt from spending all its time on the floor. Nevertheless, treated delicately and dusted on its outside every so often, this shouldn’t be a big problem. This pattern can be made with yarn of any weight and any hook size (dependent on the final size that you desire)Decor style – If the draught excluder will be sitting in a prominent place such as a living room, consider a style that matches with your existing decor. This will see it blend in with the surroundings and follow through with the overall aesthetic of your home. Alternatively, you might be after something that stands out. A bright colour among darks, or one of the many adorable character and animal-style excluders can act as a statement piece in your home. One of the things I love about this pattern is its versatility. You can make it in a single color, variegated yarn, stripes, or any combination that you like. Plus, you can stuff it with traditional stuffing or use other items, like yarn and fabric scraps, for a more sustainable approach to crafting. Nothing will give you a better sense of whether something is worth buying and is cost-effective than an honest, unbiased review from a real parent.
