Pants: Zippers, zippers, zippers. Love the crotch snap and zipper, which along with the three-quarter-length leg zippers make these pants easy to get on and off. The leg zippers provide good ventilation as well. In one of previous updates, Beta LT had gotten slammed. From an amazing Beta AR alternative, it had suddenly turned into a cheap Beta AR. High performance weather protection and materials, emphasizing versatility for multiple activities.

Although the Zeta SL is a serious product with a lot to offer, there are a couple of aspects that could be improved. Assumptions: Worn over a thin shirt, no output, no precipitation, light to no wind. Values are always for size M and for men's, except women's-only items.

One more little feature is the hanger loop that’s high enough quality. It doesn’t look like it’ll break anytime soon, which is always appreciated. Complaints Low, trim-fitting hood is a little more restrictive and less versatile than Arc’teryx’s traditional StormHood found on its hardshells. New member of Beta line Beta Long ( Men's) feels weird. Really weird. A combination of N80p face fabric and regular Gore-Tex (not Gore-Tex Pro) is confusing. The Zeta SL uses a 40-denier nylon ripstop which is a little thinner than the 50D used on both the Outdoor Research Foray or the Marmot Minimalist. While it is thinner, we don't think there is much, if any difference in toughness, tear-resistance, or overall longevity. In fact, the Zeta is more tear-resistant and offers longer-lasting weather resistance than the price pointed Patagonia Torrentshell, REI Essentials, or the Marmot Precip. Best Applications We currently don’t provide the breathability rating as this measure isn’t standardized in the industry and the results can be influenced by many factors (the fit, outside temperature and humidity and much more). Durability: The 20 denier for the coat and 40 denier for the pants feel robust enough to last for years.Durability: Like the coat, Arc’teryx calls the Zeta SL an “emergency shell.” But with 40 denier ripstop nylon I’m not concerned about durability if standard use is confined to trail walking.

Now, before I get to the typical buyer profiles, let me tell you that you must have a good reason to get a Zeta SL, and a very good reason to get a Beta Long.While it is true that Arc’teryx gear was out of reach for me personally for years, once I made the leap, I only wished I would have splashed out the money sooner.
