About this deal

Allows talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterparts at the Mycologists when true. Requires the MycoMerger mod. Supporting parents to find more opportunities to interact with their child within their daily routine, and offering guidance on how best to do this, will support the development of their child’s language and communication skills.

And if you have trouble getting the conversation flowing, this printable set of conversation question cards could be just what you need! Added compatibility with the MycoMerger mod to prevent conflicts. Now requires MycoMerger for merging talking cards with counterparts. The free walk and talk trail is a set of cards designed to support parents and carers of 0 to 5-year-olds to talk and play more with their children while they are out and about engaging in their daily routine. The cards have been produced by the National Literacy Trust to support the Start for Life campaign. It’s important for kids to develop good speaking and communication skills because this will help them to make friends, build connections and be able to ask for support when they need to. What’s more, these skills can even have far-reaching benefits beyond your pupil’s school lives. Talking Cards will be set as Rare. They will show up in Rare card choices and qualify as Rare for Rarity trials. You can have both this and TalkingCardsAppearInCardChoices active at the same time. Alternatively, if you're looking for more teacher-related resources when it comes to students' speaking, have a look at this CPD resource on encouraging independent discussion in class. Why is this listening and speaking cards activity useful? You can optionally install the MycoMerger mod to allow talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterparts.

If you're looking to boost talking and whole-class discussion with your KS1 students, you can use any of our talk cards and prompts to help you. Choose from a wide variety of themes to suit the interests of all children and engage them in a topic they love. Here are just a few of the talk task topics that we’ve got available I've added everything I could think of so no further updates are planned. The mod only focuses on including the talking cards from Part 1 into Kaycee's Mod so there's not much more to add. Family mealtimes matter. I have long been an advocate of regularly eating meals together as a family as a means of encouraging the positive eating habits of young children, and as the most effective way for them to learn socially acceptable behaviour and manners. What I had not previously thought about was the mental health benefits and I was interested to read the thoughts of parenting educator, Michael Grose, regarding this; In talking with friends, I know that not all children are open and forthcoming when it comes to sharing information, especially when asked about their day at school.

If you have the MycoMerger mod installed, you can also set TalkingCardsNontalkingMerge to true to allow the talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterpart at the Mycologists event. You can change what that counterpart is in the configuration but the recommended default is Talking Stoat with Stoat, Stinkbug with RingWorm, and Stunted Wolf with Wolf. When setting the card name in the configuration, it must be the internal card name and not the displayed card name.

The talking cards use their original Part 1 stats by default but you can apply some balancing by setting TalkingCardsBalance to true in the configuration. You can see the exact changes for the balancing below but the Stoat and Stunted Wolf would be functionally identical to the Stoat and Wolf cards in Kaycee's Mod. As the Stinkbug has no direct counterpart it has been manually balanced to account for its cheap cost and sigil.

With plenty of thought-provoking questions for pupils to answer, these talk task resources are fantastic for encouraging them to get involved in class discussions and build their skills at expressing themselves through speech. It’s also a great way for pupils to learn how to listen to one another and share their ideas. Designed to be used in an urban environment, the cards provide a range of tips and activities that can be completed anywhere outside. The aim being to increase the frequency of interactions and enhance the quality of interactions between parent or carer and child. These conversation cards include simple text, with ideas and prompts for various conversations topics. For example, some cards ask your students to think discuss their favourite celebrity, something they have done recently, or something that makes them happy. You could even encourage your students to walk around the classroom asking different questions, or discussions to their classmates. Not only does this resource help students that may not be confident engaging in conversation, it also helps them to practise their speaking and listening skills. They will be able to expand on their vocabulary, too!
