About this deal

Make 2-3 holes in the ground with your hands. The plants need a distance of 20-30 centimeters from each other.

Strawberries require full sun to develop fruit and ripen. I designed my planter to fit perfectly in this little space next to our sliding glass door. It's the sunniest spot around our entire house, and it's perfectly situated to grab a few berries to throw in my cereal in the morning! If you don't have a table saw or a circular saw to trim off the sides, I have two options for you in the woodworking plans! Add drip tubing and drainage Before we began building our planter boxes for the strawberries, we drew up plans. (That sounds much more impressive than the roughly penciled 3 x 4 actual scrap of paper— and what is that phone number written in the middle of it all?) DIY strawberry pyramid planters are usually made from wood and allow you to grow strawberries in a vertical, tiered configuration. You can customise the style to suit your garden layout and space restraints. To make a pyramid planter, cut and assemble the wood into a pyramid shape, then fill it with soil and strawberry plants. On the rectangle pieces, you will see score lines that don’t run all the way up. These are your guides for gluing down the strawberry container. Glue the first side in-between the guides. Then add glue on top so you can fold the rectangle piece over and glue it in place.

While you can simply place strawberry plants in classic pots, this isn’t everyone’s style. So, in this article, we explore 50 strawberry planter ideas, some more traditional in nature and others showcasing uniqueness at its best. 1. One of the main advantages of using strawberry boxes is that they help to extend the shelf life of the strawberries. When stored in the right conditions, strawberries can last for several days or even up to a week. However, they are also delicate and prone to bruising and molding, especially if they are not handled properly. By using strawberry boxes, you can protect the berries from damage and keep them fresh for longer. The boxes are of simple design but it’s the details that make them work well. As is often the case, I came up with an idea of what I wanted then handed it over to Steve to design and figure out how to put it together so it would work. They had to be easy to open and close, easily dismantled to store out of the garden and off the ground, made of materials we had or could easily get, be amenable to strawberry plant growth and harvest, be aesthetically pleasing, and keep the critters out while allowing me in without a lot of fuss. Happily, building planter boxes for our strawberries has done all of that.

From protecting the fruit during transportation to providing good air circulation and acting as a marketing tool. Strawberry boxes play a crucial role in the success of the industry. With its customizable branding options, the box is a win-win for both growers and consumers alike. We commonly see welded mesh used for fencing, safety covers for drains, and reinforcing concrete. However, when left outside for long periods, welded mesh can form an interesting, rusty look that perfectly suits a more traditional-style, eclectic garden. What’s more, if you have the right-sized gap between two sheets of welded mesh, you can slot terracotta pots inside, just as they’ve done here! Over the past year, I’ve come across scores of DIY pallet projects, some of them intriguing and others not quite there. One that I see time and again is the idea of using a single wooden pallet as a strawberry planter. Filled with soil and with plants inserted in the gaps, they’re usually leaned up against a wall but sometimes bolted on to keep from tumbling over. I decided that I’d like to have a strawberry pallet planter too, but that I’d come up with a better design.

Welcome

If you're not using a pot with an irrigation system, add a little clay granules to the container - it will act as natural drainage and prevent the strawberries from drowning if you water them too much. An unanticipated benefit of building planter boxes for our strawberries was that during the unusually cold July we had that first year, the extra protection from the height of the boxes encouraged our strawberry plants to grow lusher and taller. After we installed our boxes, we had to add several inches to the height to accommodate them. If you like gardening and have a small balcony, you should definitely grow strawberries in a window box. They are quite unpretentious and, with regular watering, provide a lot of delicious fruit - depending on the variety, often until autumn. When we were finished building our planter boxes and adding the netting, they looked substantial and secure enough to keep the strawberries safe from every predator (except me). I happily harvested a bumper crop of strawberries, with more coming. Then someone let the word out. Diggers
