Sharing bags containing only Squish’ems (squishy foam and fruity jelly in one sweet), Foamies (foamy sweets) and now sour sweets, Randoms Sours, are joining the existing range of Rowntree’s Randoms as of this week. A fourth sharing bag, Randoms Easter mix, is a seasonal selection of random Easter related shapes on sale now for the Easter season. In addition to the new shapes, the green sweets, currently lime-flavoured, will now be apple-flavoured after the change proved more popular in testing. All of the sweets continue to contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. The new Rowntree’s Randoms launch will be supported by a media campaign, which will include advertising, social and digital media as well as sampling activity.Since their launch in 1977, many parents have bought these for their kids thinking they would be a fun treat… and then never bought them again having been driven to near insanity by the high-pitched noise they emit.

These classic sweets are a great choice for treat time. And with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, you can feel happy to enjoy these as a fun treat. Nestlé says the new range adds several new shapes including a hashtag, a gnome, a unicorn and a flamingo while sweets shaped like a cake, birthday present, party popper and number 10 are all added to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary. We’ve been working very hard to make this year the best yet for Randoms and are delighted to introduce new shapes, tastes, textures and flavours that all our consumers will absolutely love.” Fun Gums– Coming in some flavours that don’t exactly scream out their vegan credentials – such as Pigs’ Mugs, Milk Bottles, and Fried Eggs – these are unlikely to appeal to many vegans anyway, which is just as well because they contain gelatine. For reasons of hygiene and safety, personal grooming products, cosmetics or items of intimate clothing cannot be returned. In addition to the new shapes, the green sweets, which were previously lime-flavoured, will now be apple-flavoured after the change proved more popular in testing. Nestlé said all of the sweets continue to contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

Despite Swizzels making a very good number of their sweets vegan, they still have some that contain gelatine, and hence are neither vegan nor vegetarian. Another of the early inventions of Swizzels, in the 1930s Rainbow Drops were sold loose and scooped into bags to be sold for a shilling. Technically speaking, though, palm oil is vegan in the same way that avocados and almonds are vegan despite there being environmental or animal exploitation concerns. It is clearly each person’s prerogative to decide whether or not they should consume food items that contain palm oil, and we’ll leave that up to you to decide. Not the Healthiest During the London Blitz, Swizzels decided to head north to Derbyshire to get out of the firing line, where they have remained ever since. Over the years Swizzels (called Swizzels Matlow Ltd since 1975) have released various sweets with the following being some of the more notable offerings: Sweet Nestlé has announced a major refresh for its historic Rowntree’s brand and an expansion of its Randoms range.
