The government has introduced a ‘full fabric specification’ for setting the level of the Fabric Energy Efficiency Standard (FEES). This means a tightening of U-values. The new rules require a 30% reduction in carbon when compared to 2013 Part L standards, which may seem quite high, but they are rather insignificant when compared with the 75–80% reduction in carbon which will be required by the Future Homes Standard.
