With a focus on their direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Methven and MyCarbon x THG Eco worked hand in hand to calculate their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. This comprehensive evaluation of their carbon footprint was the first step in Methven's sustainability journey, providing a clear understanding of the company's environmental impact. Whilst the initial reports had focused on BrewDog taking a short-term offset approach to carbon neutrality, this one needed to lay out a longer-term reduction plan that investors, customers, and employees could understand and support... In a relatively new industry that is significantly growing in both size and importance, it is easy for organisations to risk selecting the wrong services and solutions for their situation and can also end up overpaying for them. With a clear understanding of the event's environmental impact, the EU Society of Cardiologists worked with our partner, THG Eco, to undertake carbon offsetting measures. This effort not only reduced the carbon footprint of the event but also set a benchmark for future conferences.

It remained a side project until Toby finished his PhD, then in 2021, MyCarbon became a fully fledged sustainability consultancy! We are a coalition of 35+ organisations who collectively represent 24,000+ company carbon footprints, measuring 587+ million tonnes of CO₂e and 6+ million tonnes of directly achieved reductions. What truly stood out was their ability to blend a wealth of worldwide knowledge with a deep understanding of the specific Kenyan context. The discussion and reports were thorough, clear and very effective in raising our understanding of carbon management and sustainability strategy. The investigation led to a breakthrough; it was found that adopting more sustainable irrigation practices could reduce production emissions by approximately 25%. Moreover, it was recommended that customer incentives be investigated to reduce emissions associated with cooking the rice and waste at home, enhancing the product's overall sustainability profile.
