About this deal

The one criticism I would have is that starting a route/course is mildly confusing. There could be slight delays as the 210 is off thinking about something or it could just be that I’m not pressing the touchscreen in quite the right place. Having said that there are some nice touches where you can choose to ride a pre-loaded route in either direction. MIO Cyclo 210 Review – GPS Accuracy If in the future we intend to process your personal data for a purpose other than that which it was collected, we will notify you of that purpose together with any other relevant information. The Discover Pal feels like a pretty nicely made device with underwhelming software that spoils it – and presumably only more so for its 'casual' intended audience than for determined riders. The screen and buttons are good, and it clearly has the power to be a solid navigation aid. As it is, though, it's often frustrating to use, sometimes confusing, and annoyingly inflexible should you stray from the prescribed route. Verdict It would seem a more sensible strategy to me that MIO followed a similar model to WAHOO and just didn’t bother with MIOSHARE at all. Instead they could rely on one of those trendy modern things called ‘an app’ which then linked to RIDEWITHGPS for route creation and to STRAVA for routes, analysis and social stuff. They could then focus on innovating more around their hardware. MIO Cyclo 210 Review – Navigating

The point of talking first about sizing is that one of the key aspects of NAVIGATION is being able to see the map and the instructions that come from it. That’s MUCH easier on a decent and well-sized screen. We’re off to a good start. Mio Cyclo 210 – Box Contents In terms of routing, we can tell the Cyclo 210 what we're using it for and it’ll adjust the routes to suit. There's the option to choose from a city bike, mountain bike, race bike and running/walking profiles, as well as whether we want to avoid major roads or unpaved roads. This works pretty well, in our experience, we certainly found some quieter roads while cycling that we wouldn’t have stumbled across otherwise. With the Mio you won’t need a coaching qualification to navigate the data it can record. Mio Cyclo 405 HC GPS and navigation

Where data needs to be transferred outside the UK, Mitac will ensure that all such transfers are in compliance with the terms of the Data Protection Laws and the relevant EU regulations. Where transfers are to be made outside of the European Economic Area, MiTAC will ensure that the designation country(ies) has data protection laws assessed as adequate by the European Commission or where adequate safeguards are in place. Under navigation the unit beeps once and then twice to alert you to upcoming turnings. Turn symbols and instructions pop up at the top, and while they're mostly clear they don't always agree perfectly with each other; a slight right over a crossroads, for instance, can be accompanied by a more-than-90-degree turn symbol that implies a hard right instead. So what doesn’t the Mio Cyclo 210 do? There’s no ANT+ connection so you can’t connect it to a heart rate monitor, nor is there Bluetooth. That means if you want to transfer routes to or from the 210 (or pair it with Strava), you have to connect it to your computer using a lead and transfer them via the MioShare app — an annoyingly fiddly process. Should I buy one? Also, in Surprise Me I'd select, say, 20 miles as my desired loop and it would suggest three up to 20km instead. And one such route displayed correctly but said I had 270 miles to go, which to be fair did surprise me, because I was already home. Perhaps a future update will fix these things. Just do as you’re told

Right to withdraw consent. Where MiTAC is collecting or/and processing data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. You send your ride data to MIOSHARE, the online platform. (AFAIK there is no app for the 210 – there is no bluetooth support). From opening the box to using the Cyclo 210, it takes less than five minutes. But to get the most out of it, you’re best setting up a profile within the settings menu. This allows you to input data such as your sex, height, weight and preferred mode of transport (e.g. mountain bike).
