Capture on the Go - The lightweight and powerful DJI Mini SE camera drone is the ideal for creators on the move. The ultra-portable design allows you to effortlessly capture moments in unforgettable ways. Safety and driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, pedestrian and front collision warning with city collision mitigation. All items that could be tested safely on public roads were put through their paces and functioned as expected. One item still missing is blind-spot monitoring which seems like a major oversight on any modern vehicle. Mini SE: The drive Overall, we really like the Mini Cooper SE. It delivers incredible value, looks fantastic, and is an absolute blast to drive. Yes, the tech isn't very fresh, and space is at a premium, but build quality and materials are best in class. Some tech is only available on some trims, like self parking and the color heads-up display. The Qi wireless phone charger is also optional, and is located inside the center armrest. The DJI Mini SE was never going to offer all the goodies of the DJI Mini 2 for a lower price, and that's certainly proven to be the case.
The base model is well equipped in all markets, and includes heated seats and a heated steering wheel, an 8.8-inch infotainment system with navigation, plus auto LED headlights and wipers. Other trims add a power moonroof and power folding mirrors, leather seats, a Harman-Kardon audio system, adaptive cruise control, and self parking. Flying is simple and requires little by the way of experience. There’s no latency between drone movement and what you see on your smartphone screen. Very quiet as well. I absolutely love flying this little thing, it’s a perfect introduction.Pushing the EV down slightly offers more detail in the highlights; a degree of compromise is needed without the option of Raw. That’s not to say that the Mini SE was bad either, and here we refer only to the quality you see as you fly – higher quality video is recorded to the card. In addition, the Mini Cooper SE handles AC (level 2) charging at up to 7.4KW (11KW in the UK and Australia), which boosts the charge level by up to 20% per hour. Here in the US, the Mini Cooper SE comes with a 120V 16A level 1 charging adapter. Mini Cooper SE specs and tech What isn’t needless is the near-one-pedal ability of the Mini Electric’s regen. It defaults to the most aggressive setting barely requiring a touch of the brake pedal most of the time, but you can alter the aggressiveness. There’s a switch by the starter button that alters the amount of regen on the go. Rewarding when you get it right and, unlike the Leaf’s e-Pedal, you feel comfortable leaving this setting on at higher speeds as the brake pedal doesn’t turn to mush if you do have to resort to pressing it. Let’s talk range and charging… Obstruction Sensitivity: Due to its reliance on WiFi connectivity, the Mini SE can be obstructed by large objects like trees, buildings, or houses. This obstruction sensitivity may limit its usability in certain environments, particularly when flying in areas with significant obstacles or structures that could disrupt the WiFi signal. Pilots need to exercise extra caution and maintain a clear flight path to ensure a stable connection and avoid potential signal disruptions during flights.

After using it a few times I can completely recommend this drone from a skeptical point of view.
As anticipated its small stature and short wheelbase does make short work of u-turns, with the tight turning circle also making parking lots a breeze to navigate. Mini SE: Navigation and driver assistance featuresCamera Quality: Equipped with a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording 2.7K video at 30fps, the Mini SE delivers respectable image and video quality. While it may not match the capabilities of higher-end DJI models, the results are more than sufficient for casual aerial photography and videography. That means you’ll be up in the air and testing the drone’s limits very soon. There are three different flight modes, easily switched by an on-screen button: Cine, P (Normal) and Sport. Save for the deliberately slow Cine mode, both Normal and Sport feel a bit slower than pricier drones and that isn’t surprising. Nonetheless we still enjoyed switching the gimbal to FPV mode. (This means the camera doesn’t try to stay horizontal so flying feels fast and fun.) I’m a total novice, and I heard good things about the DJI brand, and this was available at a good price. You also don’t need a license to fly it either. It was very easy to set up, the app was simple to use and everything is obvious. I was off and flying in no time. CE: UK, Russia, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Macau, New Zealand, UAE, and other regions; It also has the ability to top up your phone charge from its much bigger battery; no bad thing given flying keeps the phone screen on so draws power. With a good, modern phone you also get a good, bright screen.
The Mini Cooper SE is an absolute hoot to drive and it's one of the fastest Minis available today. The ride is typically Mini, meaning it's stiff, but unlike Mini's ICE versions, it's tuned to be slightly more compliant. More Time in the Sky - DJI Mini SE's weight allows it to stay in the air longer than similar consumer drones on the market. Enjoy up to 30 minutes of flight time with a fully-charged battery. While we don't mind taking breaks, this trip doesn't require any charging stops in a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. On the plus side, the Mini Cooper SE is rather conservative with its indicated range, which is a big plus. Once again, there is essentially nothing to separate the drones here; they feature the same sized CMOS image sensors and the same features – well, except Panorama. Photos can be captured as single shots or in an interval mode (there are options between 2 and 60 seconds) which could be manually assembled later to create a timelapse – or might be a software solution to keep the pictures coming in case piloting becomes a distraction.The Mini SE builds upon its parent company BMW’s infotainment system and its navigation setup. It’s an easy-to-use system that, thanks to voice recognition, can be controlled without taking your eyes off the road. Turn-by-turn directions are available both on the infotainment screen and in the dash cluster. Still, given we're now approaching a year since the DJI Mini 2 landed, should you hold out for a possible DJI Mini 3? So far, we haven't seen any credible rumors that a Mini 3 is imminent. DJI has previously followed an annual upgrade cycle for its beginner and mid-range drones –the Mini 2 landed in November 2020 (a year on from the Mavic Mini), while the DJI Air 2S arrived in April 2021, almost exactly a year on from the DJI Mavic Air 2. The bottom line, it is a great starter drone with GPS. It is Stable, Goes where you want it, and is a great resource for photographers and videographers. Could probably do more but I don't want to test the distance and height limits. I had it up about 35 to 40 meters and it got these great sunset shots. BUY IT! Most of that extra weight is located below the floor, and distributed more evenly – 58/42 vs. 63/37 on the gas-powered Cooper S. And despite riding 0.7-inches (1.8cm) higher than the ICE model, the Mini Cooper SE handles quite well, with very little body roll.
