About this deal

Hold down a shifter for half-a-second or more and the LEDs on your Di2 junction box will flash to indicate charge level. Wouter Roosenboom / Shimano Awesome, thanks the the recommendation. I've looked into the D-Fly a bit before and it's certainly been on my radar. Thanks for the info on the length of the Di2 wire. If I have to get all up in the BB area that may get beyond my pay grade/don't have the tools to do it. Thanks again!

Electrical tape is easier than heat shrink and is virtually indistinguishable from more than a couple feet away. With 105 Di2 R7100 – arguably more so than the others, given it’s more likely to be fitted to bikes challenged with wintry conditions, thanks to its relatively lower cost – the need for grip and positive identification is heightened when long-fingered gloves and cold hands are in the mix. As you can see I have 3 cables in the way, the 4 way junction is in the down tube with two cables going to up the seat tube to the battery and front mech and one cable going down the chain stay to the rear mech. Your design may vary!To alternate between semi-synchronised and fully synchronised modes (and manual mode) when out riding, press the button on the junction box or display twice. On a road bike the lights will flash according to which mode you are in (a stationary flash for full manual, two flashes for semi-synchro and three for full synchro). Type 1 Port Gear Cable has a cable stop, stopping the gear or brake cable housing, allowing the bare inner cable to run internally through the frame. The junction box on road bikes can be located under the stem, in the end of the handlebars or, on some bikes, mounted in the frame. Anyway, lots of more affordable options here: https://road.cc/category/review-section/components/handlebars-extensions As long as all Di2 ports have either Di2 wires or dummy plugs in them, they're pretty water-resistant.

Whether a 234g difference matters or not will be up to you. If weight is your primary concern above all else, of course, this isn’t where you should be shopping. make the cable entries larger using a drill (not recommended unless you know what you’re doing and definitely do not try to do this on carbon bikes) Using the second option means you’d run wires from the below-the-stem junction to each component. That’s four or five electric wires coming out of the Junction box – not a pretty sight. As my colleague, Simon von Bromley, pointed out in his review of the brand’s flagship groupset, Dura-Ace Di2 R9200, moving to a semi-wireless system reduces the chance of issues with adjustment, servicing and routing at the front end of the bike (excepting the continued presence of brake hoses).

Has Shimano cut any electronic features from 105 Di2 compared to Dura-Ace or Ultegra Di2?

Type 5 Port Twin has two holes, both allowing you to run 4mm gear outer internally through the frame.
