Any Double: Wrathful Devotion – Models in this unit have Feel No Pain 6+ and if they already had Feel No Pain they get +1 to their rolls for it. I would highly recommend trying to balance a good look “en masse” with an efficient painting method – if you’re trying to edge highlight every bandoleer, you’ll go as mad as Angron.

The World Eaters ninth edition codex had rules for two distinct sub-factions, the main World Eaters and the Disciples of the Red Angel. This force consisted entirely of Angron, daemons, and Land Raiders for them to ride around in. World Eaters are pretty simple – there aren’t a ton of combos you have to build around, because most of your combos are pretty obvious, and just involve “a unit that is extra good at killing things in melee.” Still, let’s go through a few notable rules combinations. Long Charges Once that’s dry, start painting the armour panels in-between the raised armour trim. You can use a matt red, such as GW’s Mephiston Red or Vallejo Model Color Scarlet, or a translucent paint, like GW’s Contrast Flesh Tearers Red or Army Painter Slaughter Red speed paint. Applying translucent red over gold gives a ‘candy red finish’, a lustrous metallic red usually seen on classic sports cars. Make sure if you take this you have at least two maxed-out Tactical or Assault squads, with Apothecaries. You also have to carefully consider the Deployment map and work out where you need to be to get the bonuses. He landed upon the red sands of Nuceria as a child and was – uniquely amongst his brothers – captured and enslaved. Not exalted as a leader, but a mutilated gladiator, implanted with barbaric xenotech known as the Butcher’s Nails , which wove themselves into his brain and complex genehanced nervous system. The physical and psychological damage done by the Nails was irreversible, and deadened all sensations save those associated with pain and aggression. If Angron did not kill or maim, he could not feel. It was the only way to ease his suffering, even for a time. Little wonder this slowly drove him insane. This is an uncomplicated Rite with an easy objective – get across the board, and pin the enemy into their deployment zone with infantry, and kill them. Admittedly, that is probably the plan for every game you play World Eaters… You’re not strictly limited to a blood-themed paint scheme. The World Eaters’ pre-heresy livery was white and blue. You can replace almost any part of any colour scheme with white or off-white and it’ll work, as it doesn’t contrast or conflict with any colours. Blue is best reserved as an accent colour – the Warhammer studio paint scheme for Khârn the Betrayer uses a brilliant blue for accents on his plasma-pistol energy coils, chain-axe engine, hair-tassel trophies, and popping bicep vein.

And then there’s Angron, daemon Primarch of the World Eaters. He’s a veritable woodchipper for enemy models, just as he was in ninth edition, and can deploy his choice of three Wrathful Presence auras in the Charge phase, providing his force with buffs after he arrives via Deep Strike. The World Eaters are best of the best at getting right up into (and punching) the faces of the enemy. They won’t need to write a pretentious little poem about it, either – these gore-spattered gladiators are Violence Incarnate , and entirely too enthusiastic about pummeling their foes into a pulp.By and large, the World Eaters jumped at the chance to become even better living weapons. They already had 19 implants – what was one more? Chainaxes – Old faithfuls, and iconic for this Legion, a Chainaxe can be replaced with a chainsword for free, and gives you +1 S AP 4. Take this at every opportunity you get. It is too good to ignore.
