About this deal

Basically, the company is very well-rounded in its offerings and the quality of those offerings. Are shark vacuums good quality? While you can read our Shark vs Dyson: which vacuum cleaner brand is better? for a deeper dive. Comparing these two brands comes down to what kind of vacuum cleaner you want as Dyson focuses a large part of their line-up on feature-fill-cordless models as well as some canister-style ones while Shark has a much larger stable of vacuum cleaners including robot vacuums.

A handy cleaning hose makes cleaning above-floor areas easily. And, it comes with a crevice cleaner attachment and a dust brush, both conveniently located on the body of the vacuum for easy access. Bagged/bagless: Bagless | Capacity: 2 litres | Weight: 11.1kg | Run time: N/A | Charging time: N/A | Included tools: Turbo brush, dusting brush, upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle What we like Dyson is famous for its innovative and well-designed vacuums. The Dyson multi-floor vacuum has so many small details considered that it is hard to beat as far as performance goes. So why didn’t it take the top spot for lightweight vacuums? Shark has models at quite a few price points and the level of quality varies on how much you invest. The premium and mid-range models come with some great new features and some stellar performance. But, as you go cheaper, they get a little more barebones in terms of features and don’t have as much oomph. They can also suffer from reliability issues as some have reported online. What does “Stratos” means? When compiling our list of recommendations, our team of experienced, trusted parenting journalists spend hours researching every product category, using a variety of sources to analyse and evaluate which products perform best. Many of the recommendations for cylinder vacuum cleaners came from Mumsnetters themselves who’ve spent hours of their time putting the products through their paces to clean their own homes.

1. Best overall cylinder vacuum cleaner: Henry Bagged Corded Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

Just like the original Henry, the Pet Pro comes with a range of useful tools and a huge nine-litre capacity, meaning he has an insatiable appetite for dust and dirt. But like Henry, this vacuum cleaner is also heavy and bulky, so the Pet Pro’s size is something that would need to be taken into account when purchasing.

I recently bought this one. It is small and light but very powerful. I love it..” Rated by Mumsnetter ApolloandDaphne Our verdict It’s got superb suction and is 890W because the EU has a law which prohibits vacuums from using more power than that. Shark provides a crevice tool and brush – plus, for this model, a mini-motorised pet tool, which is great for stairs and furniture. We only supply appliances that meet the highest quality, from the most trusted brands. For a reliable product that takes the strain out of cleaning your home, the Sebo K1 Pro vacuumis a popular choice.Besides the excellent suction power, you get Duo Clean action from 2 roller brushes working together to battle the most stubborn pet hair. The first roller is soft and helps work dirt up from hard floors. The second roller features lots of smaller brushes to beat the carpet free of pet hair and stains. The Dyson Multi-floor bagless vacuum is ideal as a primary vacuum if you have a large area that needs cleaning.

Because it is not as lightweight as I think it should be at 6.7 kg. For an upright vacuum, that is very lightweight as most come in at least 30% heavier than that. The weight is mainly in the ball so it is bottom-heavy making it feel much lighter, as well. Additionally, we take a look at included features and how well they’re implemented – after all, a feature is not much of an addition if it isn’t well done. Where applicable, we also look at things like battery life and app support. Laura is also a freelance journalist and has written articles for publications including the Daily Mirror, the i, Metro, Stylist and Happiful magazine. Why you should trust us Shark on the whole is a bit cheaper than Dyson so if you’re on a budget, you’ll probably want to consider Shark. Both brands are very good when it comes to suction power, but Dysons generally come out ahead with battery life and weight. What are shark vacuums best at?You shouldn’t have to lift the CZ500UKT too often, though, since you’ll mostly be pulling the body around with you on its four wheels, cleaning with the DuoClean floor head. Bagged/bagless: Bagged | Capacity: 9 litres | Weight: 8 kg | Run time: N/A | Charging time: N/A | Included tools: combi floor tool, Airobrush 270 for deep-cleaning carpets and large areas, Airobrush 14 for stairs, upholstery and smaller areas, crevice tool, dusting tool, brush and mattress tool What we like The AEG AL61A4UG Cylinder Vacuum has extra large, chunky wheels for easy manoeuvrability and this also helps the AEG adjust to any surface with ease. These soft wheels, coupled with the vac’s soft bumper, means that this is also probably one of the quietest vacuums you may ever experience. We have a Hetty Pet. Better than our Dyson and we have four dogs!!” (Recommended by Mumsnet user 30degreesandmeltinghere) Our verdict

Sebo have been specialising in vacuum cleaners for over thirty years, so you know a product by them is one you can rely on. As with Shark’s most recent upright cleaners, such as the NZ850UKT, the DuoClean head here has a soft roller for hard floors and a brush for carpet, with a set of LEDs that light up the path you’re cleaning. This surprisingly lightweight cylinder vacuum cleaner has a powerful suction, which can be adjusted according to the floor type via a foot pedal. A generous cord length means you can enjoy a bit more freedom and an adjustable telescopic wand allows you extra reach, taking the strain out of vacuuming the stairs and those other hard-to-reach places. You may have seen the word “Stratos” attached to some but not all of Shark’s models. This designation has been around 2022 for models equipped with stronger suction or cleaning power, anti-hair wrap technology to keep hair from tangling the brushrolls, and odor neutralizer technology to leave your floors smelling fresh. How we tested these Shark vacuums We were impressed with the dust and dirt collection even if it was slightly horrifying how much it removed from recently vacuumed carpets. Edge cleaning is good, too, and it was able to collect oats from along our baseboards no matter whether we approached with the front or side of the floorhead. It didn’t struggle to remove hair from carpets and we were pleased to see that none of it became tangled in the brushroll. For the remaining flour, I passed through again at the top on Turbo, and at the bottom on Eco mode. As you can see, both modes did equally as well. The dust box is easy to clean and features a bottom lid to prevent a dust-up when emptying into the bin. At 1.8 litres, it’s a nice size while keeping the overall profile compact.
