About this deal

This shade is a deep brown with hints of red and orange. It’s perfect for giving paintings an antique look REMEMBER, a little goes a long way. Squirt a small amount onto your brush, sponge, or finger and begin applying it to your piece. You will instantly see how EASY and FAST the transformation is. One of the great things about Rub-n-Buff is that you can use it on almost any hard surface. I’ve personally used it on picture frames, toilet plumbing lines, light fixtures, and drawer hardware. I’ve also seen it used furniture legs, glass etchings, and to highlight furniture trim/detail work. As you can see, the colors are GORGEOUS! Every color has such a unique look to it! Perfect for the DIYer who wants to update items on the cheap!

It is formulated from carnauba waxes, fine metallic powders, and select pigments, for a finish no paint can duplicate. It comes in a little tube and is similar to a shiny, textured paste. What Surfaces Can Rub ‘n Buff Be Used On? Over the past couple of months I have been searching for some new light fixtures for the sides of my bed. We currently have some wall lamps on both sides of the bed. Over the past year have wanted something new to go better with my new bed frame. I felt like the dark color of the lamps was overwhelming with the dark upholstered headboard. Instead, I gave them a coat of Rub-n-Buff, which totally transformed them (in my eyes, at least, though I know going from shiny gold to muted gold isn’t exactly the most impressive DIY makeover!). You can see in the before photo on the left, that the gold is very shiny and yellow, and then on the right it’s darker and less shiny, which feels a lot less dated to me. I used Rub-N-Buff gold leaf for these sconces. For instance, do you have any old picture frames that could use a refresh? Instead of sending them to GoodWill, apply Rub ‘n Buff, and they will instantly look BRAND NEW. Some people even use it to revive old pairs of shoes.

I photographed each color in various angles to give you the best perspective of what they look like! Make sure to prep the surface before hand by cleaning and drying it off completely. Use a soft cloth to apply the rubbing compound in a circular motion.

As I mentioned, one of the reason I really like using Rub-n-Buff is that it’s so easy to apply: First you rub, then you buff. Have you tried this product before? Let me know your experiences in the comments. I love hearing other tips and stories! Immediately buff it off in rough areas with a soft cloth. See photo below for an example before buffing. I have used Rub ‘n Buff on many surfaces and for many projects in the past! My thrift store lamp is by far my favorite makeover with Antique Gold. I have applied it to photo frames, ceramic planters, metal baskets, door knobs, mirror frames…and even dresser knobs! The paste can be used on painted surfaces, metal, wood, ceramics, plastic, glass, metal and more. It’s easy to apply and can completely transform any item in a matter of minutes! I love to use it on antiques, frames, crafts and home decor. Color OptionsHere is a BEFORE and AFTER picture of the gold plate chargers. As you can see, the plate on the left is tarnished and worn. However, just one coat of gold leaf Rub ‘n Buff revived the charger and made it look brand new. RECOMMENDED SUPPLIES: And of course, you’ll need the object you’ll be transforming along with a paper plate, paper towel or any clean surface to blend the Rub ‘n Buff.

This color is a light silver that almost resembles aluminum foil! It’s perfect for painting metal objects like vases or picture framesAs mentioned, it’s available in 12 different colors, but it’s certainly not a product that offers all the colors of the rainbow. Instead, Rub ‘n Buff has more variety in metallic finishes such as silver and gold, with a few surprise color splashes that include patina and ruby. Spray paint is great for larger items, and it’s obviously available in more colors, but spray paint looks flat and dull compared to R ‘n B. Because this waxy metallic product is not a paint finish, it can’t help but give a richer and more dimensional look. I found the sponge to be the easiest to use for covering larger surfaces. Next, the makeup brush came in handy for applying the finish to delicate surfaces (such as eucalyptus leaves) and hard-to-reach crevices. Finally, the old cloth came in handy for the buffing process. SHOP A SIMILAR LOOK: Above is a place setting for a dinner party with a plate charger and a eucalyptus leaf brushed in gold leaf Rub ‘n Buff. That’s it! You don’t need to use any sort of top coat or protector with Rub-n-Buff, which also keeps the application process simple. Is Rub-n-Buff waterproof?

The handle to the left has just one coat applied so far in the gold leaf color tone, which happens to be one of the trendiest colors (in my opinion) out of the 12 available.Rub n buff can be used on really any surface! You don’t need to prime first, you can just apply directly to any surface you’d like. Prepare your item. Ensure that it is clean and the surface is dry. Rub ‘n Buff can be applied to painted surfaces, metal, wood, ceramics and more Rub N Buff is formulated from imported Carnauba waxes, fine metallic powders and select pigments for a finish that no paint can replicate. The process is simple. You simply rub it onto a clean, dry surface. (You can also use on previously painted surfaces or post-fired ceramics). Use a finger with a soft cloth, then gently buff to a beautiful lister. The more you buff the more it shines. It creates a beautiful luster on whatever hard surface you use it on. Does rub and buff come off? I also love that one small tube costs about 14 dollars. So for that small amount of money I was able to get a whole new set of lamps!
