The Ricoh WG-80 16MP 5x Zoom Tough Compact Camera is a digital compact camera for underwater photography down to 14 meters, featuring a totally renewed exterior design and enhanced operability. For snorkeling, this is a great entry into the UW photography world. But why would Ricoh stop at 14m??? People with an open water diver certificate can and will go down to 18m. Why separate yourself from the group because of the camera???? From my testing, the macro light isn’t quite bright enough to make much of an impact when there’s moderate lighting already. Even in the shade on a sunny day, I wouldn’t notice any difference between the macro light on and off if I wasn’t explicitly looking for the very subtle difference in the shadows. Indoors, the difference is much more apparent for macro subjects, and below are examples shot without the macro light, with the macro light, and with the standard flash. Macro light comparison. Although it’s older, the camera is very close in price and has a few upgrades. On the top, there is a dedicated mode dial instead of pressing a button and cycling through an on-screen menu. It’s also 20 megapixels and can shoot 4K video. The rear display is a touch larger at 3 inches versus 2.7 inches, but the pixel resolution is much better at 1.04-million-dots versus 230,000 dots.Supported OS must be pre-installed in PC and updated to the latest version. USB port must be standard equipped. Resolution is an underwhelming 230k dots, much lower than what we'd expect from a quality camera. Brightness is pretty decent, despite the issues with glare. Ricoh includes a sunny day option that ups the exposure of your preview but doesn't otherwise pump up the screen brightness. Continuous shooting and Burst shooting: These features allow you to capture fast-paced action or fleeting moments with a rapid succession of shots, ensuring you never miss a crucial moment. It's worth noting that at the default image size of 2M, the maximum zoom achievable is 6.6× (a combination of optical and digital zoom). For image sizes of 4M, 5M, and 12M, the optical zoom is limited to 1.8×. Furthermore, the Cross Process feature offers a distinctive and artistic touch to your photos, emulating the captivating effects associated with cross-processing film development techniques.

Auto Picture mode to automatically select the most appropriate shooting mode from 16 different scene modes We're happy to see all these flash options because the lens has a dim F3.5-5.5 f-stop. It can't compete with the Olympus TG-6's F2.0-4.9 zoom and is years behind a flagship smartphone with a night shot function in low-light situations. The rechargeable D-L192 battery should be good for about 300 photos. I used the camera on and off over a few weeks and didn't deplete the battery, which is a good sign.
