About this deal

The motor is turned on spinning the record and then the fluid is spread over the surface with a brush (supplied)

Once you’re happy with the fit, start spinning the record and apply a generous amount of ready-mixed cleaning fluid to the record surface. (Pro-Ject recommend 6 – 8ml, which should be just enough to cover the record surface). You can use the goat hair brush to gently apply the fluid, in much the same way as you use a carbon-fiber record brush. The latest S3 edition brings another round of improvements (most of which are also featured on the compact version, including the new magnetic clamp, a new-look improved cabinet design, and a new self-adhesive arm strip. The robust metal arm is easy to use, mechanically stable and focuses all suction power directly onto the record surface. Sounds like a cross between an electric potters wheel until you hit the vacuum switch, then reach for the ear defenders... It cleans really well and dries records in about 3 revolutions. I used a friends MK1 and find the new model a bit better (arm easier to operate). The supplied brush is better too only you'll need some alternative if you want to apply firmish pressure as the bristles are a bit soft (make sure you only use natural fibres). I use distilled and filtered water for the rinse. When cleaning vinyl records, I always typically recommend removing as must loose dust as possible using a carbon fiber record brush before proceeding to any wet cleaning process. Put it this way, the plastic disc they supplied out of caution never gets used and instead sits in a container full of old record accessories that I no longer use.

There is no advice on when to replace the self-adhesive arm "lips" or when best to replace them in the booklet Big container (2,5 l) for used fluid, that shows fill-up capacity and guarantees no spillage of used cleaning fluid. Discharging of used fluid is extremely easy to do. Our eco-friendly and non-alcoholic vinyl cleaning concentrate, Wash-IT, offers very good cleaning results and reduces static charge, so record wear and stylus wear are significantly reduced. The aluminum enclosure of the VC-S2 ALU exemplifies the high-end build quality, and makes your new record cleaner a long-lasting investment. The increased size allows for quieter operation and improved handling of the record and cleaning liquid application processes. With many practical Features and excellent mechanical operation, the VC-S2 ALU effectively combines industrial design appeal with an easy solution to great sound from your vinyl records. VC-E & VC-S2 Setup NotesThe second issue concerns not the machine but the included cleaning fluid, Pro-Ject Wash It. I have discovered that cleaning a record with the Pro-Ject cleaning fluid leaves a tiny bit of dried fluid residue, not visible to the naked eye but definitely there. Perhaps this is a “feature not a bug,” for example to provide some anti-static property to the record. Or perhaps it’s unintentional. After a fair amount of research, I’m uncomfortable with anything that leaves any residue on the record, though I cannot discern any degradation in sound quality when I listen to records I’ve cleaned with the Pro-Ject fluid. But those with more resolving systems or better hearing than me might. Enable the vacuum. One to two spins is usually enough to remove all the record cleaning fluid, taking the contaminants away in the process. Pro-Ject's eco-friendly and non-alcoholic vinyl cleaning concentrate, Wash-IT offers great cleaning results and reduces static charge reducing record wear and stylus wear.
