About this deal

The beer he replaced it with is a good one, but, apparently, is not selling enough. And yet the Pedigree has remained in demand for all this time. I really enjoy a pint of Pedigree, so please don’t think that I’m naming replacements because they are better. They are just other beers you may like if you happen to enjoy Pedigree. Customers say:"Best chips I've had in a long time!!! Food is basic and very reasonable priced and I have to say it's value for money On a summer's afternoon it's idyllic." Fans of pub games can also relax and unwind with their pool table and darts board, perfect for a Friday night down the local for a couple of pints. Beers on offer include Heineken, Bier Moretti, Kronenbourg 1664, Fosters and more, with weekend events such as DJs and live music. In May 2017, Marston's announced further expansion with the acquisition of Charles Wells's Eagle Brewery in Bedford. This gave Marston's ownership of the Bombardier, Courage and McEwan's ale brands, and the global licence for Young's beers. [14]

All the famous names of Burton brewing are long gone: Bass, Ind Coope and Worthington. There is now a clutch of excellent small craft brewers in the town, but Marston’s remains the sole survivor from the dizzy days of the 1800s, when Burton was the most important brewing centre in the world.

Like Draught Bass, it retains a loyal following, hard-earned over many years. Arguably, when the beer is at its best, it still deserves that following. a b c Lesley Richmond; Alison Turton (1990). Burton ales and water achieved cult status in Victorian times thanks to the invention of the ‘union set’ method of fermentation. The Park Brewery in Wolverhampton brews Banks's and Mansfield beers plus most Thwaites beers under contract. Given 3.5 stars on Tripadvisor, this pub seems a great place to stop for a pint if you're taking a stroll along the nearby Trent and Mersey Canal. Described as a "Quality olde worlde Traditional Canalside Pub", breaking up your afternoon walk with a pint outside could be just what your weekend needs.

HomeBrew Forum

As resplendent from the outside as it is inside, this impressive boozer gets plenty of comments on its lovely atmosphere and great food. The main menu includes doorstop sandwiches, loaded chips and plenty of burgers. Customers say : "We each had the Sunday roast and it was lovely. Tasty hot food that was very much needed after a wedding party the previous evening. The pub is typical of a traditional style, no loud music or sports and we were given a warm greeting and great service. Highly recommended but best not leave it to chance and book in advance." Wainwright is one of the company's best-selling beers and is brewed at the Banks's Brewery in Wolverhampton. It is a 4.1% ABV golden ale named in honour of the famous fell walker and author Alfred Wainwright. Marston's acquired the brand from Thwaites in 2015. In 2016, the Thwaites branding was dropped and the beer was rebranded "The golden beer". [30] Another one of Burton's historic pubs, this traditional watering hole is described as sitting "stubbornly" on Cross Street since it was used to store Bass Imperial Stout in the 1800s. Now run by the Joule's brewery company (out of Market Drayton, Shropshire), the pub serves a mix of beers, including Joule's Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk and Pure Blonde – as well as a pint of Bass that comes "direct from the cask in the old sampling cellar."
