About this deal

The following tip applies to both models of the WhisperLite stove, the SimmerLite stove, and the WindPro stove. Push-Start Ignition: Fast, reliable piezo lighting; spark igniter is protected inside burner for maximum durability.

The only complaint we’ve seen (and it’s true for most Titanium pots except for the MSR Titan) is that the lid doesn’t “snap” into the pot. The lid is fairly loose, which means it’s easy to pull it off. That can be a boon if you’d rather not burn yourself when removing a pot’s lid. But it also means that you’ll need care when draining water. If you’re car camping, you will likely have more burners available and should get as many pots as you have burners. You’ll also want plates, deep bowls, and mugs as well as a frying pan. For this story, we’re only considering cooking pots, although the GSI Pinnacle cookset that we recommend includes a pot, pan, plates, bowls, and mugs. The most significant feature is the pressure regulation giving you greater control over your heat output and faster boil times whatever the weather. It's a simple stove that is practically bomb-proof, so you won't have any issues with it.When the time comes to do a little cooking or coffee making on the road, there is simply no better unit. Here is my advice: if you are a long-distance, bear-bones dirtbag (no offense, that’s the term) hiker really counting ounces, the Snowpeak Litemax could be the right choice. I say that only from the perspective of weight. I can attest from experience that every single gram is counted when you are trekking hundreds or thousands of miles at a time. The pot grabber works well and a small bag comes to hold the stove kit all as one, with another small bag to keep the stove separate. To get everything in the stove kit including fuel, you will need to flip the fuel canister over so the silver side is facing up.

It is true that hikers and mountaineers have died by using their stove inside a tent. I’ll just say that death by this cause is very rare. Almost always the persons involved were cooking in a completely sealed tent (no ventilation) at high -altitudes where oxygen is already scarce. On average, the stover offers 60 minutes (with an 8 oz. canister MSR IsoPro) of burn time. 1 hour of use per canister may not seem like much, but consider that the majority of things you need to prepare only require you to boil water (which take a little over three minutes per liter.) If you are cooking elaborate meals, you will obviously blaze through your fuel at a faster clip. We’ve tried pots without handles like the original version of the Vargo Bot(a bottle-pot that comes with a screwable lid but no handles). While we appreciate the weight savings, a handle-less design is inconvenient for all but the most gram-saving weenies.Different outdoors people have different Willingness to Carry Weight. That’s why we considered pots of different weights. Note that like all titanium and aluminum cookware, MSR advises that you don’t want to put this one directly on a fire. It’s actually quite rare to find ultralight qualities in a pressure-regulated stove, so it is pretty awesome that MSR was able to finally combine the two concepts. I have NEVER had an issue with finding a gas canister that will work with my stove. Just about every major city in the world has some sort of a camping gear shop. All you need to do is google “camping shops in X city” and you should be sweet. Please note that inflatables such as sleeping mats are not considered as faulty if they become punctured during use and are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty in this event.

Personally, I never carry a gas canister bigger than 8 oz. as I will rarely be on a trekking trip that requires more than that. I recommend cooking from your tent vestibule if and when you need to cook from inside the tent. I’d say pretty much avoid it at all costs unless the weather or conditions have deteriorated to the point of making outdoor cooking impossible.

Consistently Fast: Pressure regulator maintains stoves fast boil times even in cold weather and with low fuel Whilst you are cooking your food, other animals can smell it. Always hang your food away from your tent to avoid having bears or other unwanted visitors at night.

Fast-Boiling: Pressure-regulated stove boils 1 liter in 3:20 minutes; maintains fast boil times even in cold weather and with low fuel. Consistently Fast: Pressure regulator maintains stove's fast boil times even in cold weather & with low fuel. In 2017, we introduced the remote-canister design, in which the stove is remotely connected to the canister by a fuel line. This new design supports larger pots and is available in the WindBurner Duo System,Group System and Combo System.Lids also reduce splatter. While reducing splatter is a nice feature of a pot in a home kitchen, when you’re in bear country, it’s nice to keep all your smelly food on one pot instead of all over your camp. There are currently two WindBurner stove designs. The original threads directly onto the top of the canister. It is available only in the smallest WindBurner system, the Personal 1.0 L System. Integrated Piezo Igniter: Fast, reliable push-start ignition; spark igniter is protected inside broad burner for maximum durability
