About this deal

Holder soon befriends Sky and starts to spend more time with her, but Sky herself doesn't seem to have any idea who Holder is. She doesn't remember anything from what happened before she was taken away from her home and family when she was just five years old. The more time they spend together, the more Holder starts to fall in love with the girl Sky is now and the more he wishes that she wouldn't be Hope so that their present won't be affected by the events that happened in the past. Merry, Stephanie (January 20, 2022). "On TikTok, crying is encouraged. Colleen Hoover's books get the job done". The Washington Post . Retrieved February 11, 2022. Yes! This is a audible that a non reader/listener could get into. I like to listen to books again with friends and family that they wouldn't normally read. What are the chances that the only two girls in my life I’ve ever loved... I’ve lost? It’s killing me piece by piece every single day.

This story had me thinking from the first chapter what a fan-freaking-tastic read Hopeless would have be if it would have been written in alternating povs! Those of you who have read Hopeless you pretty much know what the story is about and well, why read this book then if all the mistery has been revealed? Let me tell you that there is SO much more to know. This boy/man can still surprise us and melt our hearts. Reading this story again from Holder's POV is a gift and being inside his head is a privilege. It’s causing my hands to shake and my heart to pound and my chest to ache because all I want to do is wrap my arms around her and hold her and thank God we finally found each other again.” This book follows the exact plot line of the first book from a different point of view. Narrated by Holder, our broody leading man from Hopeless, we hear of how he first meets Sky and all the events and unravel thereafter, with a different twist. While we suspected Holder’s feelings to be strong, we now find out how overwhelmingly intense they were from the moment he laid eyes on Sky. They love story is epic – it is the story of two young people who have cared for each other for over a decade and who are now drawn to each other all over again, like two magnets unable to fight the pull, the growing love between them healing their hearts and giving them the courage to face the impending truth. They are kindred spirits who might be falling in love with one another for the first time, but their hearts have known each other and have been connected for a very long time. “I’ve loved Hope since we were kids. But tonight? Tonight I fell in love with Sky.”McNary, Dave (July 15, 2019). "Justin Baldoni Developing 'It Ends With Us' Romance Movie". Variety . Retrieved February 11, 2022.

Life for these two is full of surprises. If you have read the first book you know what I mean.It hurts him so much that she cant remember him and it's actually devastating reading how he feels .I wanted to hug him so much *sigh*.

The book starts right before Les, Holder's twin sister, makes a decision that will shatter Holder and his family's life, again. He is the boy who lost Hope and he could never recover himself from that, and now, he is completely broken. Sky: a sheltered former foster child who is entering public school for her senior year after being homeschooled her whole life I have to say that in all honesty, even though I knew all the twists from reading Hopeless, each one of them hit me as though it was the first time in Losing Hope. Probably because it wasn't as though I was just re-reading them, I was actually re-experiencing them through Holder's eyes. And I loved that there were new twists too - things that were going on with just him personally that took me by surprise in the most wonderful way. Haunted by the little girl he couldn’t save from imminent danger, Holder’s life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. He has never stopped searching for her, believing that finding her would bring him the peace he needs to move on. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnect. What are the chances that the only two girls in my life I’ve ever loved… I’ve lost? It’s killing me piece by piece every single day.”

The writing was phenomenal. The author pulls you in and I was experiencing everything with them like I was right there. I didn't want to put it down for a second. I was hooked. Like, wrap my iPad in ziploc bag and read while I shower, hooked.

Hopeless - Recommended Reading Order

In this book, we also get to explore or at least, we get a clearer picture of the relationship between Les and Holder. Gah! Those journal entries had me bawling like a baby. And the fact that Holder poured out his feelings to his sister through that journal was just heartbreaking. And although we pretty much knew what happened to Les, as it was already revealed in Hopeless, reading it again from Holder's POV was just gut-wrenching. Now you might tell me "Rose, those are completely different stories and scenarios versus the story that Colleen Hoover's telling here," and you would be correct, but there's a reason why I point it out. Both of the examples I cited above tell a single story from multiple viewpoints in one expansion, or a collection of intersecting stories set in one environment but with shared experiences. This is very hard to pull off. You knew I would be the one to find you and the fact that you knew that and you still killed yourself?

Fine,” he grumbles, attempting to free himself from the hold I have on him. I wait until he looks down at the phone and hits send before I release my arm and let go of his shirt. He puts the phone to his ear and never stops looking at me as we both stand still and wait for Les to answer. My teeth are clenched, my jaw is tight, and my pulse is pounding in my head. I’ve never hated anyone more than in this moment. The intensity of what I wish I could do to him right now is even scaring me.It's been a while since I read Hopeless, and that went in my favor when reading this book. Because it had been almost 2 years since reading the first book, reading from Holder's point of view was a fresh perspective and didn't feel like a reread of a book I already read. I’m not falling in love with her piece by piece anymore. I’m falling for the whole girl. Every single piece of her. Losing Hope is Hopeless from Holder’s POV. Remember the part where Sky and Holder didn’t talk to each other for one month, oh.my.gah…. it was killing me… I wanted to know what Holder was doing, what he was up to, what he was thinking, who he was seeing and YES, Yes, and YES I got it! Thank you!!!
