About this deal

A row of LoftZone TrussShelves will consist of one square Shelf-Panel between every truss that you want to shelf, and one single End-Piece at the end of the row. The physics of this is that joists can be unevenly spaced in a loft, and if the short end of a board doesn’t rest on a joist, it doesn’t have a tongue-and-groove on that end, so could sag if someone stepped on it. The risk of this happening justifies the extra effort of cutting boards at the ends of each row.

The Shelf-Beam works out cheaper overall (even including the loft boards) than buying the TrussShelf. But this is not an issue with StoreFloor, since we recommend that you place our steel Cross-Beams 610mm apart (for loft boards that are 1220mm long) so that they do indeed screw into a Cross-Beam and are supported by it, and there is no risk of the ends of the boards sagging.

Start at the left-hand end of your row of shelves and place your shelf end-piece so it rests on the trusses, screwing it into place. From work clothes and occasional wear to those items you like yet will never wear, keep your smart suits and stylish dresses on display on a clothing rail that sits along your roofline. Creative loft storage ideas to build character Additionally, our product only works in houses where the spacing between each truss, measured from the centre of one truss to the centre of the next one, is about 600mm (or 24″), which is what the vast majority of new build houses have. Builders often often don’t fit trusses very accurately, so we allow for up to 30mm variance, e.g. your trusses can be up to 630mm apart. Because each panel is designed to slide over the top of the one next to it, it doesn’t matter if your trusses are a little bit less than 600mm apart in places. Sound familiar? It might be time to transform your attic into a dedicated home gym, allowing you to store your workout gear and equipment in one place. Create a special space for your pets For each row of shelves, start with the End-Piece, and place it so that it rests on the inside of the trusses at the left-hand end of the row of shelves. You can screw this in now, or later, using the longer screws provided.

Now put all of the other TrussShelf panels in place, with each panel resting on the previous panel on its left-hand side and on the trusses on its right-hand side. The Shelf-Beams come in two lengths, 700mm and 375mm, allowing you to even have two rows of shelving, one on top of each other They weigh 650g and 350g respectively. I received two sets of 375mm and 700mm loft zone shelf beams. Each set had 5 beams and screws required to fit to trusses and to screw the boards to the beams. I used my own boards.
