She later became the show's chief investigative correspondent and has worked on undercover stories and investigative reports. In 2011, she won the National Headliner Award for Best Investigative Report, beating Anderson Cooper for her undercover exposé on air duct cleaning scams. GUERRERO: Well, I absolutely didn’t have a female identity to bond with. I did not have anybody to show me how to wear makeup or how to shave my legs or what to do when you get your period. In fact, when I got my period, I didn’t know what was going on. I was screaming to my dad that I was in pain. He took me to the emergency room and they said sir, your daughter is fine. She’s just having her first period. When I take somebody on, I’m not doing it for myself. I’m the one on camera. But when I’ve heard, you know, a rape survivor’s story and it’s her swim coach that abused her from the time she was 8 to 13, then I feel like I’m being brave on behalf of her, right?” she said. “So, it makes me less nervous and afraid.” Guerrero, Lisa (November 28, 2016). I was very cynical about it,’’ Guerrero said. “I said, ‘OK, I will do these pictures and I will do this cover because I’ll get to be 40 and a Latina on the cover of Playboy — very rare. I am very comfortable in my sexuality and my femininity, as are many Latinas. And I had fun doing the photo shoot, and I have no regrets about that. But I knew it was going to be really controversial. And they’re gonna be interested in talking to me. And I’m going to have a plan, because they’re going to ask me, ‘What’s next?’’’ I say "perceived fearlessness" because despite all of the impressive and bold actions documented in Warrior, Guerrero also opens up about her own insecurities and fears and a string of difficulties that allowed her to find strength deep within herself.
