About this deal

Verity is more than intrigued. This sounds like exactly the kind of opportunity she needs and the son, Alexander, is a young man just her age. This could be just what she needs, but how will she ever convince Camille to let her go?

Emily Lawrence was an excellent narrator, and she had her work cut out for her voicing the many Thaumas girls as well as a smattering of other characters. I think she did a great job of making the sisters feel distinct from each other - something which may not have come across quite as well in the print version. Once there, she's entranced and impressed with her new surroundings. Bloem is stunning. The Duke is a celebrated botanist and the entire estate is replete with vibrant gardens and active greenhouses. I always keen on claustrophobic small town mysteries: people get trapped in the place, harsh winter comes out as the monsters start lurking around the woods. They cannot get out to provide more food and medical supplies, craving from hunger, cold, exhaustion and madness slowly takes out the direction of the place: neighbors become enemies, delusions take over control! Even your own sibling can turn into a real threat! Special thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s / Delacorte Press for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts. Annaleigh lives a sheltered life at Highmoor with her sisters and their father and stepmother. Once there were twelve, but loneliness fills the grand halls now that four of the girls' lives have been cut short. Each death was more tragic than the last—the plague, a plummeting fall, a drowning, a slippery plunge—and there are whispers throughout the surrounding villages that the family is cursed by the gods.Ellerie lives in the small, secluded village of Amity Falls. The village is surrounded by forest, and when an unknown calamity befalls their supply party, the townspeople find themselves even more isolated from the outside world. There are terrifying beasts prowling the woods, but the worst monsters are the ones who live just doors away. Dark times have come to Amity Falls, and mysterious occurrences turn the townspeople against each other. This book begs the question of just who you’ll trust, and how far you’ll go, to protected your loved ones when help isn’t coming. Craig is a fantastic writer and this book proves that. In terms of her three novels, I think this one is the best written, although it is my second favorite, the first being her 2021 release, Small Favors. She also sets a perfect tone for the atmospheric spooky and gothic vibes she continues to strive for in all of her releases. It's creepy, yet so aesthetically pleasing I felt as if I were there myself! (P.S. I would also kill for this to be a movie... The set would be fantastic) I loved the setting, which was loosely based on colonial (?) America, although no specific time period or region was referenced. I love to crochet and my grandpa has bees, so all of those aspects were very relatable, sweet, and fun. I especially enjoyed the bee content.

Annaleigh also meets a handsome stranger named Cassius who is the son of a renowned captain on the Salann Islands. Annaleigh becomes certain, after hunting for clues on the islands, that her sister Eulalie was murdered. Thus, when she finds out her sister Verity is seeing apparitions of the dead Thaumas girls, she wonders if they are haunting the family because their deaths were not an accident. The romance between Verity and Alexander was so pure and it was sweet watching it evolve. Verity has never had any sort of relationship like this, so she struggled a bit fitting her experiences with her expectations.Verity is 17-years old and has spent her whole life living at the family estate, Highmoor, now run by her older sister, Camille. The rest of the remaining sisters are all all living in various places around Arcannia. years old Ellerie Downing, vibrant, resilient, independent, smart, tough heroine, who is more mature from her piers, taking care of her family, helping beekeeper papa to protect the hives. Her dear sisters Merry and Sadie help her for the house chores ( especially Sadie is sweetheart with her imaginary friend Abigail, you may remember from author’s previous book) But her twin brother Samuel’s secret relationship with her best friend Rebecca ends tragically which cause a big animosity between them and their neighbor Danforths. It results with a big fire at their land. Her mother gets brutally injured, critically burned! Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. When Annaleigh starts to experience vivid, ghostly visions of her sisters, she comes to realize that the deaths that have been written off as tragic accidents may not be accidents at all. On top of this, her sisters have been running off to go dancing at lavish balls each night, returning at dawn with their shoes completely worn through. But where are her sisters going? And who are they dancing with? Annaleigh must work to discover what is plaguing her family before more harm can come to them.

As the sisters battle it out, the truth about why Camille wants to keep Verity at Highmoor is revealed, leaving Verity more confused than ever and more determined. Unfortunately this was just not it. Verity was SO stupid I couldn’t take it. I don’t know why she needed so many times to be presented with evidence before she finally came to grips with what was happening but her naivety was too much. I hated being in her head and she was so childish. A modern masterpiece, this is a classic Gothic thriller-fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Erin A. Craig, about doomed love, menacing ambition, and the ghosts that haunt us forever. Annaleigh lives a sheltered life as the daughter of a Duke on a small island. However, her peaceful life has been shattered by the intermittent accidental deaths of her sisters. When she starts having ghostly visions and a mysterious door to another realm is found, Annaleigh begins to wonder if her sisters’ deaths were really accidents at all. When Annaleigh's involvement with a mysterious stranger who has secrets of his own intensifies, it's a race to unravel the darkness that has fallen over her family—before it claims her next. House of Salt and Sorrows is a spellbinding novel filled with magic and the rustle of gossamer skirts down long, dark hallways. Be careful who you dance with...Paired with the damsel in distress trope is the disturbing dreams that run rampant in gothic romance and literature. Annaleigh’s dreams and the superstitions surrounding her family and their supposed curse fits perfectly into the gothic mold. this book was the perfect read for spooky season. erin craig is a master when it comes to creating a world shrouded in the dark and the mysteries. this book is dark, gothic, and haunting. this isn't a story that will give you nightmares, but will definitely make you wary of what hides in the shadows. I enjoyed how ominous it felt, even when nothing overtly scary was happening. It always felt like at any moment, a monster could appear from the periphery. The characters were compelling and I really liked the conclusion; it was unique and inventive. But after their parents are gone, her twin brother starts getting more suspicious, things get more dangerous around the woods. She starts seeing a woman in white dress, the very same ghostly figure Cyrus Danforth has seen before something real tragic happens to him! Get swept away in Erin A. Craig's mesmerizing House of Salt and Sorrows. As one by one her beautiful sisters mysteriously die on their isolated island estate, Annaleigh must unravel the curse that haunts her family. Be careful who you dance with. . . .
