If you want to replace your taps rather than adding to them, choosing a multi-function tap can free up space around your sink. The tap itself can be cleaned like any other, paying particular attention to limescale around the nozzle.

The second you take your finger off the button, the water stops. However there is a pot-filling function that delivers up to 3 litres of near-boiling water in 60 seconds without keeping your finger on the button. Testers have remarked that it runs slower than expected and it’s true that that’s half the speed of your regular hot tap. The flow from the dedicated boiling water tap is just a little spluttery, in the sense of not quite being a seamless flow. It spits a little when you first turn, then starts shooting out. We had no problems housing the water tank under the sink, and still had space for a shelf to go above it, so there wasn’t much impact at all on storage. The filter needs to be upright, so that’s best if mounted to a side panel, so that’s another factor when you’re working out where everything will go.

For this hot water to flow, you need to press and hold the child safety button for three seconds, then press another button to let the water flow. The lever must be pushed down to activate it, and once you let go, the water supply is immediately cut off, so there is no risk of scalding your hands (or those of any little ones) accidentally. Looks-wise, it is modern yet classy. You couldn’t tell it was a boiling water tap from looks as it isn’t bulky or cumbersome. The button to switch to spray mode is also quite well-hidden which is nice.
