About this deal

They are firmer and have a thinner mating surface than than those of the DT700PROX, so they're not quite as comfy — to me, at least. Depending on your viewpoint the supplied cables are either perfect for the job or cumbersome at best, there is no in-between here. Both the long and coiled suit studio desk work given its length to move around freely with the cans strapped on your head or the durability to brush up mix desks and take a bit of rough and tumble on mobile turntable setups.

That being said the gap is not as huge as it once could have been with very high ohm DT variations due to the Tesla driver technology producing a much more efficient performer even at this high rating. As such, both can play well from portable players but the DT 1770 PRO just scales that bit better, sounding more controlled than the DT770 on stronger amps. Tonality I ran all the headphones separately through Denon's respectably-priced DA-300USB DAC while listening to YouTube, Spotify's AAC streams, and 1411Kb/s FLAC files thanks to Tidal, all at 192kHz 24-bit sample rate, with the aim of getting as wide a scope as possible for almost all listening scenarios. These feel quite basic. The earpads, while fuzzy, are still a bit hard and narrow — harder than the wonderfully softer and wider ones on the DT700PROX. You get a smoother sound from the likes of the Cayin i5 but it doesn’t sound quite as spacious and detailed as the X7/AM3 combo. If you are looking to add a bit more definition to the DT 1770 PRO’s low end and even more weight than the Chord Mojo is a very good choice also. These headphones have really honest and detailed sound, yeah, yeah, that's true. My first product with 'Made in Germany' under the logo. The quality of all materials used in DT-1770 feels fantastic, so as I expected.

Mids and treble show roughly similar progression with a subdued upper midrange dip and a treble elevation that, whilst not brittle or too bright, certainly has plenty of sparkle and energy. The DT 1770 PRO treble performance sounds a bit more refined and smoother than the DT770 which stays fairly prominent from 6-10k compared to a tiny bit of easing off by the DT 1770 PRO around 7k. Trivially easy to drive at 250Ω. Work just as well plugged into an iPhone as they do with a dedicated amplifier like my Benchmark DAC1 HDR. Clean, clear, smooth, open, airy and accurate sound with accurate and deep (but not emphasized) bass.

Beyerdynamic (stylized "beyerdynamic") GmbH & Co. KG is a German audio equipment manufacturer, which produces microphones, headphones, and wireless audio systems and conference systems. Beyerdynamic has been family owned since its founding in 1924. Beyerdynamic is the oldest audio company that remains active, though its earliest competitors such as Shure and RG Jones Sound Engineering were founded in the years that followed. Most of beyerdynamic's products are made in Germany. At the end of the 1930s Beyer developed the first pair of dynamic headphones. The cable connection is also worth highlighting. The mini XLR connection is fantastic for securing your connection but does limit your potential for using alternate cables. Thankfully the two included options are superb, so I don’t see this as a significant issue. Comes in one universal 250Ω impedance rather than the bewildering array of 32Ω, 250 Ω and 600 Ω versions of the DT770.

have lots of treble but it's not offensive and it does not bleed into vocals much. It adds soundstage and air to the sound. 1990 have lots of treble and it's offensive AF. It bleeds in to vocals and make them shiny and unbearable. 1770 treble is less compared to these two. There is no ''Beyer treble'' in these. 1770 is more comfortable listen but bass can be fatiguing. Thanks to the STELLAR.45 driver, The PRO X range are going to sound excellent in the Studio, plugged into an interface or amplifier – but you can also use them on the go if you plug them into a laptop or a smartphone as they are going to turn up very loud. Instruments sound prominent to my ears with very good clarity, very little if any grain, though a touch dry with a shorter decay (it is Beyer after all). Instrumental separation is above average. Beyerdynamic has also included two sets of earpads: leatherette and velour, which completely alters the sound. In a nutshell, the leatherette provides more bass, it gives a warmer tonality, and isolates better. While the velour presents a colder and more analytical signature that is typical of studio monitors. I mainly use the leatherette pads for this review.Beyond 7k the DT 1770 PRO retains a healthy level of sparkle and an impressive airy sound despite its closed design. Treble extension is very good with little in the way of detectable treble hiss that might cause excessive fatigue. According to Beyer the DT1770PRO has brilliant highs and a warm bass that give you a perfect sound profile unmatched by any other headphones of their kind. They’re right about the bass and treble. With iOS I have the volume set to about three-quarters to seven-eighths with just about any music or movie. I may have to set the volume close to maximum, and I always have enough sensitivity on iOS not no need any external amplification. Of all the older DT770 editions the 32 ohm is probably the most bass energetic of the lot yet its tuning has a less sub-bass emphasis than the DT 1770 PRO and more focus on mid-bass giving it a perceived heavier slam. The only thing I could say negative about these earphones. It's not super comfortable wearing them for more than a couple of hours. It's too tight and a little heavy for me to wear phones all day. That's it, all minuses I could find.
