Here at FUN, we love the movie too. We've been known to watch it once or twice (or maybe about a hundred times) which is why we brought together a great selection of costumes and accessories based on the characters from the film! Bubble Band Brilliance: Secure those pigtails with your pink bubble ball elastic rubber hair bands. Make sure they’re not too tight – you want to be comfy, remember? If you're looking for amazing Monsters Inc costume ideas, just imagine that your goal is to work at the epic power plant of Monstropolis. Think of this as your very first interview to join the team of Monsters Inc. Will you get tossed into the mailroom? It is hardly the illuminating career that you were aiming for, right? Sure, it is important to be part of public service, but you probably imagined joining the police force or becoming a firefighter if you were going to go that route.
I started by buying fabric for the outfit. The amount of fabric you buy will be determined by the measurements of the person for which you are making it (height from chin to ankles, circumference around chest, shoulder width, and extra fabric for the hood). We bought between 1 and 1.5 yards of each fabric. I couldn't find scaly purple fabric, so I found a sparkly fabric that felt a little rubbery. Then I added a layer of purple tool to add texture and the appearance of scales. I used white minky fabric for the arms to mimic the squid like appearance of the one in the movie. I layered the inside of the costume with purple felt to make it warm and comfy since we live in Wisconsin. Fold your fabric in half, than measure the fabric around your child. Make sure you add an extra six of inches of fabric (which I didn’t do so mind turned out a little tight.) Place the batting in between the fabric. Fold the fabric in around the edges and pin them shut. The only problem with that is they never made a boo costume! One of my friends had a sully outfit for the baby so that was covered!
What about Mike? We wouldn't dare forget about Mike! Sulley might have a big heart, but when it comes to brains of the operation! With our many Mike Wazowski costumes, you can transform into your favorite one-eyed monster from the movie. These simple costumes are easy to change into, and feature the bright green color scheme of the lovable worrywart! We have sizes that will fit your baby, along with some sizes for adults to round out the selection. I am not a sewing expert at all but I know how to use my sewing machine. One thing i kept telling myself is it doesn’t have to be perfect it is just for my daughter who is 2. I figured two monsters made this costume out of a chair, mop and lamp that I could put it together too! Wiggin’ Out: Pop on that bob wig, adjust the bangs, and pull your hair into those legendary pigtails. It’s all about the pigtails. You’re going to look fabulous!
Pink Oversized T-shirt: Boo’s signature look includes an oversized, light pink t-shirt. The comfier, the better! You want to feel like you’re wearing your jammies while you’re out and about. It’s all about that cozy factor. Pink Bubble Ball Elastic Rubber Hair Bands: Now, you’re going to need those pigtails to defy gravity. Secure them in place with some pink bubble ball elastic rubber hair bands. Make sure they’re snug, so your pigtails won’t turn into pigtails-gone-wild!Now that you’ve got all your Boo essentials, it’s time to assemble your costume masterpiece. Here’s the fun part:
