About this deal

In my opinion the ACTIVO CT10 is one of the most exciting portable players to be featured in our carefully curated portfolio. Offering exceptional value for money, incredible specification and a gorgeous touchscreen, the CT10 is the perfect player for anyone looking to see just what advanced mp3 players are now capable of providing. The perfect companion for anyone at School, University at work or even commuting on a daily basis, the CT10 makes for the ideal entry into high-resolution audio, where you can begin to revisit your entire music collection again and experience it like never before. The Activo does omit some features found on higher-end players. There’s no 2.5mm balanced output, for example, nor is there a S/PDIF digital or line-level analog output. Then again, these are features the average consumer will never miss. A smooth user experience Switching to wired headphones, the interference disappears entirely. It appears to be an issue with the Bluetooth module interfering with wi-fi in the CT10, rather than any edginess to the sound presentation. Nevertheless, it’s a worry. Ok so another post about the errors experienced whilst using the Activo with the Qobuz app. I'd be pleasantly surprised if there ever fixed but at least the issues will be documented here. There is dynamic punch, emotion and a musical interplay between the lower guitar chords in our right ear, and the melody toying with our left. Through the bass, the CT10’s presentation is responsive and deep.

Sonically I found the CT10 was more than up to the task of delivering high-resolution music without any negative sonic issues. Your choice of earphones and EQ settings will have a far greater sonic influence of the final sound than the player itself. I also used the CT10 with several Bluetooth headphones. The inclusion of aptX HD made for a wireless headphone experience that was on par with what I heard from comparable wired headphones.Would the CT10 be able to satisfactorily drive entry level planar magnetic headphones like Hifiman HE4XX or Deva? Within the "search on Qobuz" box the font is almost invisible due to the colour being a very light grey. So It's difficult to read what's being typed. I am considering purchasing this to use primarily as a network streamer in my set up (see my signature; Pioneer SP-FS52 to be added soon) to play my FLAC albums (from micro SD), Spotify and (hopefuly) Tidal. I hope to use it also as a regular DAP, with wired and bluetooth headphones. It will cost me 10k. I tested the Activo with a pair of Astell&Kern Billie Jean in-ear monitors (in for a forthcoming review), as well as a pair of Focal’s Clear over-the-ear headphones. I used high-res music files from my collection and streamed music via Tidal. Needless to say, my praise of this player’s design extends to its refined sound. I've just received the CT10. As mentioned the sound quality is very good.I couldn't detect a significant difference when I listened to one of my own productions in 24bit flac quality between the CT10 and the Fiio X1 (first gen). The CT10 powers the full size Philips Fidelio X2 (32 ohm) and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro's (32 ohm) with plenty of headroom (volume) to spare.

Matching white buttons for power, play/pause, and fast-forward/rewind slightly protrude from the case’s horizon, while slightly curving to match the CT10’s body. The most notable physical feature is the shiny, dodecagonal volume knob on the player’s right-hand side. The metal knob is mint green, resembling the one on Astell&Kern’s AK70 high-res digital audio player. Activo You may not need a dedicated digital music player to play your music as you would have 15 years ago, but that doesn't mean they're not useful. Today's digital music players offer expandable storage, support for lossless music, and superior audio quality. As your observation had served you correctly, the Android O/S does post limitation to 24/48. Such technical limitation isnotbarredby the ACTIVO device, as it is a technical matter shared amount with other audio devices running on Android O/S from other manufacturers.Serving as the hosting device, the ACTIVO Global … CT10 media unit is compatible with a broad variety of brands and memory capacities, as ACTIVO does not have a preferred list of microSD card manufacturers. The media unit is able to support large memory card that is available in the marketplace, and that include sizes in 400GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The most essential component is the formality of the memory card needs to be in FAT32, as it would offer a stable and compatible state for the CT10. CT10 seems to come with a built-in Tidal app and MQA capability. But to get a Tidal account, I am assuming I will still have to use a foreign VPN. Would that be very complicated on the CT10 as compared to smarphones / computers?Rather than, lets make the internet just another monopolised monetary based market place full of adverts and consumers being spoon fed information (inc digital productions) by “the middle men” whose bottom line (objective) is profit. Because as we are finding out (will find out), a “bottom line” monetary market tends to not include (advocates thoughtless behaviour) some very important variables like, well the planets Ecosystem. A healthy ecosystem (digital or biological) thrives on diversity. If you want a dedicated PMP with direct access to Spotify or Tidal, the Activo CT10 should be a great entry-level option. Sonically, it’s a five-star player when used with wired headphones – but unfortunately it’s not a five-star product overall. Quote "There are 19 music services supported, however a limit of 4 apps can be installed at the same time to provide optimal performance and maintain a great user experience.". Sounds more like marketing spam to me. Just limit how many apps can be running at the same time (processing power). i.e. . Why limit how many supported apps can be installed?, if the space is available?. The Activo sat naturally in the palm of my hand; the player was perfectly suited to ambidextrous use. While holding it in my right hand, my thumb fell naturally on the volume dial, with my index finger on the control buttons. When I shifted it to my left hand, my index finger took over volume control duties while my thumb had instant access to the controls. After using the Activo in different contexts, I wish that the dial had a knurled texture. If my right thumb was slightly sweaty, I didn’t have the same friction to move the dial easily. The same wasn’t the case when moving the dial with my left index finger. Activo

Control Panel - Hardware and Sounds - Sounds - Audio Devices manager - Select the "USB DAC" in the ‘Play’ tab, We hope that with a few tweaks we can reassess the Activo. It has the potential to be a category kingpin – it’s just not there yet. Unfortunately, I wont be able to audition it before purchasing. Hence reaching out to forum members: In summary. Quality little player. But, if your wanting a device to connect with quality music in your own way the CT10 is limited for " connect with your music in a new way." . We link a pair of Bluetooth headphones, Cambridge Audio’s Melomania 1s, and an on-screen notification tells us we’re using an aptX connection –the Activo CT10 is among the few budget players to support aptX HD as well as MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). After inserting the SD card the internal storage is now 12.71GB available. And the SD card is diplayed as 119GB with 119GB available and 2.00 MB of contents. Or maybe the Qobuz app limits streaming audio over DLNA and or Bluetooth?, unless listeners buy a 'Qobuz connect' speaker system etc. ( Like there isn't enough wasteful technology already due to manufactures not working together effectively to implement certain universal connection systems!). The brightness setting on the CT10 doesn't dim the screen sufficiently enough for dark environments. This increaser's eye strain & drains the battery faster (bright lights at night time can prolong how long it takes the brain to enter 'sleep mode', thus increasing insomnia). Ideally a Blue light filter should be available, at least as a supported android app, if not a firmware feature. Sonically I found the CT10 was more than up to the task of delivering high-resolution music without any negative sonic issues. Your choice of earphones and EQ settings will have a far greater sonic influence on the final sound than the player itself. I also used the CT10 with several Bluetooth headphones. The inclusion of aptX HD made for a wireless headphone experience that was on par with what I heard from comparable wired headphones.
