This model is compatible with the final version of macOS Mojave (10.14), macOS Catalina (10.15), and macOS Big Sur (macOS 11), as well. It additionally supports the final version of macOS Monterey (macOS 12), but it does not support AirPlay to Mac in addition to the more minor Spatial Audio, Portrait Mode, 3D Landmarks, and Interactive Globe features. When paired with a compatible iPad, it supports the Sidecar feature, too. Leave it plugged in for a while: If you recently removed your computer from long-term storage, it may be in a low-battery state. That’s a solid improvement over the older model and nipping at the coat tails of the competition, such as the seventh-generation Core i7 Dell XPS 13, which routinely managed just over eight hours under the same usage conditions. This notebook was sold in either silver colored aluminum or a darker "Space Gray" colored aluminum housing (but not other colors) and weighs just a bit more than 3 pounds (1.37 kg). Use a different power outlet: Make sure that you’ve connected your power adapter to a working power outlet. Unplug your power adapter from the power outlet, then plug in a device that you know works, such as a lamp, to confirm that the power outlet works. Reset the SMC: Reset the System Management Controller (SMC), which controls how your Mac manages power. If you have a Mac with Apple silicon, just restart your computer. For other Mac computers, see the Apple Support article Reset the SMC of your Mac. This system fully supports the last version of macOS Sierra (10.12) and macOS High Sierra (10.13). Running macOS High Sierra (10.13) or later, this model does support HEVC hardware acceleration. Use a different power adapter: Your computer may be connected to a power source that gives it enough power to run, but not enough power to charge the battery. For example, your Mac might not charge when it’s connected to a low-wattage adapter. For best results, use the power adapter that comes with your Mac. Product Details
The screen is one of the best fitted to a laptop, with good viewing angles, brightness and colour accuracy matching the P3 colour space, which is important if you’re trying to edit images or video. The keyboard is still pretty noisy at full tilt and has little give when you depress the keys, but is accurate, with a solid feel. I like it, but some will hate it.
