About this deal

Zeiss SFL 10x40 Binoculars are “SmartFocus and Lightweight”, designed specifically to have great performance and brilliant optics. Their solid magnesium housing ensures durability and longevity of use for many years to come. They can easily be transported in their dedicated carry pouch without becoming cumbersome over long excursions. The field of view was outstanding, in SFL 8 x 42 which I tested it was 140 m / 1000. As a spectacle wearer, I consider the field of vision a very important part when choosing new binoculars, and I am sure many will be very excited when they try this new model from Zeiss. The close range is as low as 1.5 m, which is perfect for both birds and insects.

The mounts offer the ability to add inclination or declination to the sight so it can be kept optically centred while being zeroedMake being in the outdoors your priority with the Zeiss SFL binoculars. The magnesium housing of the binoculars is lightweight and long-lasting, ensuring they can be passed down the generations for everyone to enjoy. The answer is yes. This model shares the same colour reproduction as the 8x model and very nice it is too. The position of the focus wheel allows three of your fingers to securely grip the tubes below the hinge, while your first finger then falls naturally on the focus wheel, without having to ‘reach’ or search for it, and this arrangement allowed me to hold this 10x model steadier than I anticipated.

This scope is fitted with ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass which helps to maintain natural colour reproduction within the observable field of view, minimising chromatic aberration (colour fringing), resulting in high clarity, picture-perfect results even at long distances. The obvious application for this is in the hunting field, where the shooter will spot his quarry and will then want to acquire it through his scope as fast as possible. I don't know if there is any particular problem with these Uppendahl prisms. Henry might know why they never gained popularity. There was a recent thread about them being used in Bausch & Lomb (I think - maybe Bushnell) binoculars and that some of them were phase coated and they were highly regarded. I think Renze commented on them. He owned one and took it apart if my memory is correct.

The implementation of this new prismatic design not only allows the 10x40to maintain a high optical output and a minimal size, but also a reduced bulk and weight, which results in a better balance for whichever shooting platform the scope is mounted on. This optimisation means that a shooter can aim for longer without fatiguing. The 10x40has a glass-etched illuminated mildot or mildot rapid reticle (see individual models), high precision windage & elevation controls (no parallax) and comes with a MOA adjustable mount. The main feature of this scope is its wide field of view, and to test how wide I grabbed a standard telescopic sight, turned it to 10x to match the magnification of the Immersive Optics scope, then compared the two side by side when looking downrange on a dull and miserable winter’s day. Proper fraction button and Improper fraction button work as pair. When you choose the one the other is switched off. I do consider the Pentax ED's just below modern Alpha binoculars so really for 40 year old binocular the Leitz’s do hold up remarkably well which is tantamount to the original excellent optical and build qualities. For any parabola, Ax 2+Bx+C,the x-coordinate of the vertex is given by -B/(2A). In our case the x coordinate is 5.0000
