About this deal

Play the example game first from the rulebook! It’s only to five points but it will definitely allow for a lot more understanding of what’s what and how to make best use of your outfits and the different parts of the system you’re making through exploration! Enforcer (Corrupt): You pay per tier of your own ship. Any money paid to the Enforcer goes on the Enforcer card. This does not contribute to the NPC’s end of round FP roll (only credits gained from bounty collected and events). If the player isn’t an outlaw, this Enforcer won’t do anything (and specifically won’t target the Scoundrel – presumably the Scoundrel is paying him off, too!) Customize: Each player begins the game by choosing and customizing a Tier 1 starship. Invest all your money in engines and be a rapid, yet fragile, explorer. Put all your credits into an uber missile and watch other players flee in terror. Get a small engine and save space and credits to invest in buying and selling cargo. Or create a well rounded ship, ready for anything. In Xia, the choice is always yours. Xia has a variable game length – you choose how many points to play to at the beginning of each game. The typical game length by points is: Derelict Hulk: If your ship is adjacent to the Hulk, you can tow it by spending +1 movement, and the Hulk ends up in the space your ship last occupied. If you move onto a Gravity Path or through a Gate while towing the Hulk, it moves to the space you last occupied, and then you won’t be adjacent to it any more. The Hulk can’t be damaged. If your ship isn’t adjacent to the Hulk, you can’t tow it. To claim the Hulk, you spend 2 movement to get onto The Kiln, and then your Action Phase ends.

Basic additions to the game are additional contents of already-existing items in the game (sectors, ships, etc.). They do not need new rules and naturally blend into the game. A:Bounty from the Scoundrel goes onto the Enforcer, per standard rules. Note that the NPCs will get a bonus to the FP roll at the end of the round for the bounty that the Enforcer earned. This is a Wiki of unofficial BGG User Modificatons and Expansions for Xia: Legends of a Drift System which are also possible expand the expansions Xia: Embers of a Forsaken Star& Xia: Missions and Powers. Merchant (Investor):Money earned does not contribute to the NPC’s end of round FP roll (only credits gained from bounty collected and events). Of course, the Merchant will be earning FPs directly… If you destroy the Investor, you get all money on the card.

The most noticeable thing about this game is its visuals. They are beautiful. There is no denying the care, attention to detail and time taken to develop the game, but the actual look of Xia gives it so, so much more! This is undeniably one of the most themed and pre-polished games available. The ships are beautiful and look exactly like you'd expect them to from their description. From the plain and simple, to the weird and wonderful, by just looking at the ships you know their intended purpose; a freighter ship is easy to spot amongst the delivery ships, as are the pirating ships amongst the adventurers. And the paint jobs? Someone definitely took a long time choosing what each ship would look like and clearly considered the actual palette for each!

New exploration tokens completely replace the ones in the base game. Now the possibilities are a cargo cube, an energy refill, extra movement, a “captain in need” who’ll pay to be transported to a particular space, or the dreaded ice damage – more on that later. Once you’ve resolved an exploration token, save it; you turn in pairs for a fame point or 2,000 credits. The Economy Scenario: A ship attempts to move 1 space passing through 2 planetary boundaries. If it successfully jumps through the first planetary boundary, but fails its roll to pass through the 2nd, what happens? The ship does not leave the origin space until it has cleared both planetary shields. Either you pass through both shields, or are rebuffed by one or the other and stay in your original space. In the game the players fly their ships around the system, completing a plethora of missions to gain money and explore new sectors. The aim is to become the most famous space captain in the drift system, whatever way you can. Xia: Legends of the Drift System is an open world, adventure and exploration game for 3-5 players that takes about 90-120 minutes to play. In our experience, Xia plays best with 3 players. Game Overview:Trade: You can buy goods from one planet and then sell them on another. Only certain planets will buy or sell specific goods. Archaeological Expert:If you use the Archaeological Expert reward, the space station will move on its path (even if your ship was already in the space station).
