About this deal

I just want us to consider if it had happened differently. Imagine, when he's rescuing her from a traumatic situation, he chooses to not comment on her body or sexualise her. And, imagine he just chose to, maturely, just always look her in the eye and care about how she's doing, rather than acting like a desperate man who is physically incapable of looking. I feel like something like that would be so much more romantic and considerate. I've had enough of immature, horny men. Olivia resumed at her new school and thought that her coach would be the famous Peter, the one that initiated her transfer but to her dismay, Peter introduced her to the man beside him called Will Langstrom, who did not like her. It was obvious from his expression, his choice of words, and what not that he did not fancy Olivia on his team at all.

The story was good, liked the H and the h, their attitudes and the chemistry between them. Were the parts of them or their beheviours I did not like? Sure. But I am not giving away any spoiler :)) Will Langstrom has too many responsibilities, and the last thing he needs is Olivia Finnegan, a beautiful but troubled new transfer student. We've now had sex in the shower and on a table," he says. "I think it's time we got really crazy and tried this thing called a bed." "I've heard of those," I reply, following him to the room. "They sound dangerous." He turns toward me with a grin that could only be described as predatory. Your running is crap. You haven't placed better than third in nearly two years, and the last time you ran a 4:30 mile was three years ago. I think you've lost it." Will. *sigh*. Let's not start with this idiot. It takes two to tango right? Well, if h is the one trying to get with someone who's in a relationship, this idiot is the coward who doesn't break up with OW, stringing her along and even has sex with her while thinking about our lovely h. So, yes, there is emotional cheating for first 60% of book and physical cheating cuz the H kisses h while he was still in a relationship with OW.Oh, and there was hate-love relationship + teacher/coach-student relationship and those put together = fantastic. I'm pretty sure I'll re-read this in the future. Hell, I even want more of Olivia and Will. Push/Pull: Yes The H pushes the feelings he has for the h away because of his need for his job. There is one point that the h pushes the H away towards the end. I felt the author did a great job of showing us who Will and Olivia really were. There was really good relationship and character development. I felt the chemistry between Olivia and Will almost from the start. There are two reasons I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5. 1)While I really liked Will and I understand his dilemma. I didn't like the fact that he had a girlfriend for a little over half the book. I wanted him to break up with Jessica sooner. 2) There was just too much push/pull. His need to do what he felt was right went on for far too long making him push Olivia away just a tad too much for my likings. I was really glad that when Will and Olivia did get together that Olivia's problems didn't just disappear. She still had to get help and I thought that was an important message. Love heals but it's ok to still need professional help. Will's mom Dorothy and brother Brendan were awesome side characters. They added something special to the story. I loved the ending it was just so sweet. Waking Olivia was a great read and I would recommend It to anyone who likes angsty, taboo, naughty, forbidden love! To start off with the basics, the writing was pretty bad. It wasn't atrocious, but it was far from good. I'm hoping that her writing had matured and gotten a bit more formal in her newer series: A Deal with the Devil because I do think this author has decent potential. But unfortunately, the writing in this was pretty annoying, it was just too colloquial. I liked how it made for some interesting scenarios and, most of all, how it drew the two main characters together.

I read the e-book version of this story not so long ago and absolutely loved it. Although it's an older novel, it was one of my Top Reads of last year and I was looking forward to listening to it. His life is already on a constant run and pressure and the appearance of the new girl on the team doesn't help!!! Anyone can see from far away that she is trouble... Blown away by this book ... on edge the whole time. Hope you all fall in love with Liv and Will like I did."-Book Lovers Down Under Elizabeth O’Roark’s writing was exceptional. The emotions in this book were so palpable and intense. I felt fear, loathing, anger, nervousness, sadness, happiness, love, hope. It was amazing and overwhelming at the same time. I felt like I was in the story! And the plot. It was so complex! Waking Olivia wasn’t just another romance. It had a darker, thriller side to it. It was so cool. I also have to throw in the fact that the running theme in this book actually worked. It’s very rare to find a book where running as part of the plot feels natural. It did here.He crosses his arms in front of his chest. He has particularly nice biceps, which would totally distract me if we were having a different conversation. "You're a liability and I don't feel like taking time away from really talented athletes so that you can 'apply' yourself, but Peter sees something in you. Claims you're a diamond in the rough." It's my first day at a new college and I'm dragging my feet like it's an execution. Which makes sense since the man I'll meet today has the ability to end my life. Life as I know it, anyway. He towers over me, and between his size and the way he is looking at me-like I just drowned some small pets for fun-Langstrom feels like a threat. People either cower or lash out when threatened, and I'll give you one guess what camp I belong to. This is bad. One of the things I loved most about Waking Olivia was the last few chapters. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the entire story. I was so addicted to it that if I could have forced myself to stay awake any longer, I would have read it in one sitting. But there was something so special about the ending. Where some authors would have ended the story, Elizabeth O’Roark continued it. She made it a true story of healing. I felt like I got a well thought out and possible conclusion for Olivia. I really loved that. This is news to me, but did I really think Peter McEwan was going to coach me personally? I know he has his hand in the entire coaching program, but talk about equal rights all you want, no school is wasting a revered coach on the women's team.

He should have broken up with his girlfriend sooner and he should have found a solution to the "coach/athlete forbidden affair" situation a solution sooner than that and then, I would have believed in his love. He was almost too late to save her life, let alone declare his love! And most important of all, I don't respect ANY character who openly tries to get with someone they know is in a relationship. Our lovely h here did not care that H is in a relationship with OW for almost 60% of the book. She openly flirts with him, coerces H to touch her and kiss her and is surprised that the actual girlfriend of the H hates her. Like, tf? Calm you're godly complex down. And the fact that she trash-talks and calls the OW demeaning names for trying to solve her relationship issues with the H cuz the OW loves him is just so low. And can every character just about how pretty Olivia is? It's so annoying. I hate when this happens in any book especially when the heroine is so annoying. Like, I get it she's pretty and you can say that once in a while, now stfu. I don't want that girl on my team. From the moment she walked through Peter's door, I knew it. The music from "Jaws" could have been playing and it wouldn't have felt more ominous.

Part 3: Evaluate Waking Olivia

Waking Olivia, told from dual POVs, is a beautifully depicted, slow brewing forbidden romance with unraveling secrets, unlikely friendships, hot-cold romance and an against-all-odds love that will melt your heart. Add to that a 6-star ending! So, even though that she is a beauty, she just have to behave or she will have to leave the team...
