About this deal

As the name implies, it’s a top-rated ultraviolet filter at a low price, built to cover all the basics to reduce UV contamination in images while shielding your lens from wear and tear. Designed to reduce ultraviolet light with seven layers of an anti-reflecting multi coating, you’ll avoid even the most subtle UV contamination that can cause blue hues, haziness, glares, and overall picture degradation. Without a filter on the lens. Both this and the image below were taken at full aperture (f/1.7 for these images) with a standard lens.

Urth Ultraviolet filters sharpen your photos, improve image clarity – especially in hazy conditions – and protect your lens from the perils of outdoor photography. Our UV filters cut out 99.6% of ultraviolet light, which helps sharpen your photographs and videos, especially in hazy conditions. Ultraviolet light can create a blue colour cast, ...PREMIUM QUALITY: 16 layers multi-coated optical glass filter, 99% transmittance compares to 90% transmittance of generic UV filter. Protect your expensive lens from dust and scratch while not lowing your photo quality.

Soft-edge GND filters are also used in high contrast situations, but where the horizon is not necessarily flat. The soft edge allows for smoother transitions, making the use of a filter less evident. Soft-edge GND filters are also rectangular and are normally used with filter holders. The reverse GND is a specialized filter used by landscape photographers when shooting against the sun while it is setting close to the horizon. While a regular GND filter gradually transitions from dark to clear towards the center, a reverse GND filter transitions from dark to less dark from the center to the edge. Specifically for filters, as there are a lot of options in the market, it is recommended that you consider high-quality products from reputable manufacturers. These are typically filters that incorporate two important things: Shielding your lens from dust, moisture, and abrasions, you’ll have no worries bringing this scratch-resistant digital camera to any location — whether it’s the desert, beach, lake, or mountains. And because the Tiffen Filter provides a shield of defense against damage from drops and breaks, some users choose this filter as a lens cap alternative.. Both flare and ghost images are caused by unwanted reflections or scattering from the various exposed surfaces within the lens and camera body. The glass surfaces of all the lens elements will contribute, as will the glass surfaces of the filter. Typical modern lenses contain up to 15 or more elements, and the addition of one more element (the filter) is not likely to make much difference in most practical circumstances. Here is a 2 minute “star effect” that I created in Photoshop using very simple technique with the Motion Blur filter:

If you have some light scratches scattered all over, it's unlikely to show up. When you have some ridiculous amount of wear right in the center, then it will probably ruin the image. Protective UV Filter】 This UV filter reduces haze and minimizes ultraviolet (UV) rays while improving contrast. Perfect for capturing high altitude and snow photos without the bluish cast. Keep this filter on your lens to protect against dust, scratches, and bumps There is a minimum and a maximum effect of polarization, depending on the filter alignment. You should rotate the filter every time you compose for best results. Take a look at this example of minimum and maximum effect of polarization: The filter does a great job of removing blue casts from images, and the brass filter ring will prolong the life of the filter while stopping it from jamming tightly onto the front of your lens. The filter also has an internal thread in case you want to add additional filters on top.It multi coated design absorbs UV rays to prevent a bluish cast, blurs, glare, and haziness, while its MRC coating prevents violet, red, deep-red, and blue tints from UV light that can create distortion, reflections, and ghosting not visible to the naked eye. Neutral density filters like the Lee ‘Big Stopper’ will darken the exposure and allow landscape photographers to use a longer shutter speed to capture a more evenly exposed image, as well as for long exposure effects. These come in screw or holder system format, with inherent advantages to both. The Urth UV Filter Plus+ is a premium product, capable of cutting out up to 99.6% of ultraviolet light. Its German B270 SCHOTT glass is protected by 30 layers of nano-coating, meaning it's easy to clean and is well protected against water, dirt, oil, and other smudges, while also providing top-notch light transmission. The size range from 37mm to 127mm filter thread also means you're all but guaranteed to find a size that fits your lens. Neutral density filters can be both circular and rectangular. There are no benefits to having a rectangular neutral density filter, so it is best to buy a circular ND filter for size and portability benefits. Although much fainter than the primary images, they can be very noticeable as they will be in focus if the lens is focussed at infinity and the lights causing them are in focus. These ghost images will disappear if the filter is removed, or if the aperture is reduced sufficiently (i.e. the F-number is increased).

In some cases the maximum effect of polarization can result in an unnatural-looking dark blue sky as shown below: Until a week ago after looking over another batch of pictures I started to think, what about that UV filter...

UV filter camera lens modifier

Again, I have never seen any evidence that this is significant for a good quality filter on normal camera lenses. Good quality filters should have optically flat surfaces that do not disturb the direction of the light rays passing through the filter. If there is any slight variation from optical flatness (as may occur with a very cheap filter), the effect will be most noticeable with extreme telephoto lenses because of their magnifying effect.
