About this deal

It can be really difficult for a child to adapt to a new member of the family and books are a great way to introduce the idea. The one I most frequently recommend is Giles Andreae's There's a house inside my mummy ( Scottish Book Trust) The gentle story is told in rhymes from the point of view of a little boy. When my wife became pregnant for the second time, I was talking to Flinn, our 2-year old son, about what was going to take place and how exciting it would be for him to have a brother or sister. I started to think about it as though I were a young child myself ... 'There's a house inside my mummy' was a phrase that just popped into my head, and from then on the book was a joy to write.' A popular book that captures the wonder and excitement of looking forward to a new member joining the family * Families Magazine * An everyday story made special by the gentle humour, simple rhyme and friendly pictures * The Independent *

A popular book that captures the wonder and excitement of looking forward to a new member joining the family ( Families Magazine) Summary: A wonderful rhyming book to share with little ones who are looking forward (or perhaps not!) to the arrival of a new sibling.

A great book for sharing with your first born while your second is still in the ‘tummy house”– The Times Please be aware that the delivery time frame may vary according to the area of delivery - the approximate delivery time is usually between 1-2 business days.

The whole book is written in rhyme and, fortunately, the rhymes work well and don't leave you feeling uncomfortable. They give the book a nice flowing feel as you read it aloud. As I mentioned, the imagery of the mummy's tummy being a house works well and I like the other ideas such as it being like a sort of giant bathtub or how the little boy talks to the baby through her tummy telephone! Waiting for a new brother or sister to arrive can be a confusing and worrying time for young children. Sharing this simple rhyming story together is the perfect way to reassure your little one and involve them in all the excitement. Told with humour and warmth by Giles Andreae, the author of much-loved family favourite Giraffes Can’t Dance. Beautifully written in simple rhyme, it is a book that can be read over and over again. ( Carousel) When I asked friends with more than one child which book they'd recommend on this subject, the one that came up time and again was this one. * Parentdish *

When I asked friends with more than one child which book they'd recommend on the subject, the one that came up time and again was this one ( parentdish.co.uk) My only quibble with the whole book is that at the end it says Look who Mummy made for us - My lovely little brother! There's no one in her tummy now...UNTIL SHE MAKES ANOTHER! which is a wonderful ending but prompted my daughter to then discuss how, once her baby brother is born (he's in the tummy house right now!) I can set about making her a sister! A delightful book, definitely recommended! An everyday story made special by the gentle humour, simple rhyme and friendly pictures ( The Independent)
