About this deal

Then Allanby and Warlow get a break. Despite seven years wedged in a cliffside crevice, a DNA trace is found on one of the bodies that points to a pair of petty criminals with a history of drug dealing. One’s in prison and the other’s still out selling, and at last the police have someone to question. When a landslip on Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastal path reveals the harrowing remains of two bodies, ex-DCI Evan Warlow’s quiet-one man and his dog-retirement is shattered. As the original investigator for the two missing persons eight years before, Evan is recalled to help with what is now a murder inquiry. Highly recommended, a treat for any mystery fan, and in particular those who enjoy British detective series (my personal favorites). I can’t wait to read the next installment. DI Jess Allanby - newly promoted to SIO (Senior Investigating Officer) and eager to make her mark on this, her first major case to lead, Jess is nobody’s fool, a tough and tender divorced mom to a teenage daughter, whose cool grey eyes and subtly shifting composure may be more than Evan had bargained for. The museum houses a model of the tunnelling shield as well as images and artefacts from when the tunnel was in use as a pedestrian thoroughfare between Rotherhithe and Wapping.

The trouble is, someone is one step ahead of them and soon there are more bodies to contend with. This puts Warlow into a new spin as it leads to clashes with DCI Caldwell, a former colleague he never liked and who knows exactly how to press his buttons. Now Warlow is struggling with his need to solve the case versus his inner doubts about his health and ability to perform as a detective. But he can’t really stop to think, because the reheating of this cold case has set off a chain of events that Warlow and Allanby must rush to keep up with and the novel crescendoes with a perilous clash in the deadly and decaying Engine House. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Devichoys Wood is directly on your doorstep and provides beautiful walks. There are 2 wonderful traditional Cornish pubs within walking distance of the property where wonderful home cooked food is served . Mylor, the renowned sailing hub , is a short 2 mile drive away. The famous Bissoe cycling route is a stones throw from The Foundry In 2006 the museum changed its name from Brunel Engine House to Brunel Museum and expanded its exhibition to include a new mural on the shaft showing the tunnel shield, and other works by the Brunels, such as models of famous Brunel bridges incorporated into bench seating. We would like to reassure our guests that our cleaning regime is undertaken to the highest of standards.Nursing a dark secret that (no spoilers here, and not even a hint!) has hastened his early retirement, at 50, from the Dyfed-Powys police force, Evan is unceremoniously summoned to assist when a break occurs in his last case, the unsolved disappearance of a sixty-ish couple, with Evan’s familiarity now desperately needed to help fit the new, and uncover the missing, pieces in a case that has dogged him for seven years. Yes, some plot points were easy to see coming, but I still struggled to identify who was behind the crimes. And I didn’t see the ending coming at all.
