About this deal

As a Star Wars fan, this is one of those must-have products that I would have bought just to watch it float majestically in mid-air and spin on its axis. Looking to take your audio capabilities over to the Dark Side? Award-winning designer Plox is looking to allow any Star Wars fan to instantly transport to a galaxy far-far-away with their Death Star Floating Speaker. This is a floating wireless Bluetooth speaker that is meant to double as a gravity-defying orb replica of the famous Death Star from Star Wars. Does the levitation feature work? Yes, but it can interfere with sound quality should you place the unit on the wrong type of surface. The strong battery at the bottom of the unit can create interference when placed on metal or surfaces. With that said, as long as you test the surface before you let go of your Death Star BlueTooth speaker you should be just fine. Playing Music Nice extra features on the speaker included an aux input so you can connect wired devices if you wish and the ability to receive calls through it. You can also pair up to two Star Wars speakers with one device so you can get one of each design and give yourself a fantastic audio setup. You will get a notification when it has been paired successfully. If you are having difficulty pairing, toggle your Bluetooth on and off and try again. If the issue persists, restart your phone. You should not stop pressing the button until you are notified it has been correctly paired.

As speakers they don’t match the sound quality of more focused products, like the Sonos 1. But that’s not surprising given their focus on aesthetics and authenticity to the movies. The audio quality is decent and matches some competing speakers in the same price point, like the Ministry of Sound M Plus. When you are buying this speaker, you are buying Star Wars merchandise that just happens to be multifunctional as a speaker. Still, there are several pros to buying the iHome Millennium Falcon Bluetooth speaker. Once the two speakers are paired, the dominant speaker you need to connect to – which in my case was the Stormtrooper – will appear in the available devices list in your phone or computer’s Bluetooth settings. Once it is set up properly you can play music, audiobooks, podcasts, and other audio content wireless from up to 30 feet away without impact to the sound quality. The iHome Millennium Falcon Bluetooth speaker should be compatible with any device that has Bluetooth capabilities. AUX

When it’s all set-up it’s amazing but getting the Death Star to float takes some time and patience to find the “levitation point”. On the front of the base are a series of button that allow you to change the level of bass, and the volume. For once this is a speaker that actually give you clearly decipherable levels of bass when you press the buttons. To be honest I didn’t need to play with the bass too much but it definitely made a difference and I was impressed. While the Plox Death Star Floating Speaker does perform better than some Bluetooth speakers, it does not come with a way to easily control sound levels or quality. However, when played at a regular volume level and sitting near the speaker, the sound quality should be just fine. Keep in mind, the speaker only boasts a 33-foot range. If you move out of range, the speaker will disconnect itself. Features and UsabilityWhen it comes to sound quality, the speakers are surprisingly good, but certainly not best in class at this price point. Setting up the iHome Millennium Falcon Bluetooth speaker is very easy, and you can use it in one of two ways. Before you set it up, you need to make sure that the battery is charged first. To charge, simply connect it to your computer via the USB port or using a wall charger to charge it. Bluetooth

Fitted with a 2.1 sound system and 2 x 3W speakers with a 10W down-facing subwoofer, connect to your PC, music player, tablet or smartphone to enjoy phenomenal sound quality with plenty of bass. And if you connect your phone via Bluetooth using the easy pairing, you can even enjoy the hands free call function, with this clever droid muting your music while you chat. In fact, if this Death Star didn’t defy gravity and put on a show by spinning around on its own axis it would be a tough sell. And the other impressive thing is that when the Death Star is floating there, it’s pretty sturdy – you can touch it and will still sit there. How does this gravity-defying orb do at actually playing music? Plox included a 5-watt speaker that is intended to deliver 360 degrees of uncompromising sound quality. Overall, we found the sound quality to be good, but a bit tinny with certain songs.

The issue isn’t as pronounced as I’ve seen on some competing speakers, but it will be noticeable to audiophiles, who would do better to look at things like the Sonos 1 – though being fair to AC Worldwide that’s not who this product’s being marketed at.

If you’re a Star Wars fan looking for a cool centerpiece for your living room that can double as a wireless speaker, then these are a genuinely compelling, if very niche buy. The Stormtrooper and C-3P0 speakers look amazing and ooze character, which is really all you can ask for from official memorabilia. You can even pass non-magnetic items like a piece of paper under the Death Star just like a magician proving there are no wires. If these were portable units this would be a deal breaker, but because AC Worldwide’s speakers are designed to, generally, stay inside and be equal part decoration and speaker the issue is more forgivable. It does mean that you’ll have to consider the best spot to place the speakers in your intended room after you’ve bought them, and perhaps rearrange your other memorabilia while you’re at it. Experimenting in my lounge I got the best results from a single speaker placing it on a bookshelf in the corner of the room, with C-3P0 facing outwards. Ultimately, you are buying the iHome Millennium Falcon Bluetooth speaker for the novelty. It is a fun and functional little speaker that looks exactly like everyone’s favorite ship from Star Wars. It isn’t going to be the most powerful speaker, but it will likely be the most unique one you own! With an unparalleled level of detail, incredible sound quality and awesome functionality, this C3PO Speaker is a must-have for any true Star Wars fan. Before you can put the Death Star Floating Speaker to use you’ll need to set it up. Included in the box is a speaker that emulates the Death Star, a power adapter, a micro USB charging cable, a magnetic base, and an instructional manual. As is standard with most Bluetooth speakers, the first aspect of the setup is simply charing the speaker. This will take about two hours. It comes with a floating stand – this is a cone that attaches to the base and allows the user to make it easier to pinpoint the levitation.
