At the risk of sounding cliche when referring to skeletons…proceed with caution! (See what I did there???) I love reading a good spooky story with the kids at Halloween time and I'm really into pairing up fiction and non-fiction reads for my kids when they are sparked by a topic. They love Halloween and that has led to their interests in all things skeletal — bones, skulls, and skeletons galore. Over the years, we've collected some favorite Halloween-themed books and some really cool books about bones and skeletons. This book is about three skeletons, the big skeleton, the little skeleton and the dog skeleton. They all lived on a dark dark hill, in a dark dark house.

Dr. Bones: The skeleton doctor (who wore a doctor's coat and glasses with a first aid kit, a stethoscope and a leg tapping hammer) who helped Big and Little to stop them from bumping in the night and everything else etc. in the episode "Bumps in the Night" and everything else in other episodes. Moon Man: The Crescent-moon-shaped character who was always the narrator in each episode. Unlike other characters, he was also not a skeleton.Reading any book about skeletons and bones is not only fun but can also be educational. It is important to teach young children about the human body and teaching them about Skeletons and all about bones is one topic kids can really enjoy. As autumn whispers through the trees, it’s a great time to gather your young readers and explore the fascinating world of bones, be it the human skeleton or the amazing bones found in the animal kingdom. Not only are there plenty of Skeleton children’s books and bone books out there, there are also lots of fun activities you can complete with the kids to extend their learning and interest in this topic. A great introduction to the human skeleton for early readers. Great for kids in grades 1- 3. Dog gets left behind when Big and Little decide to visit the dark, dark dinosaur museum. When Dog follows Big and Little to the dinosaur museum, he thinks a huge, huge dinosaur wanted to hurt them. Tekeningen van kinderen met grote ogen krijgen steeds dat stukje extra aandacht van mij. Ik weet niet hoe het komt, maar die trekken me gewoon aan. En je hoeft maar deze hardcover in je handen te nemen en vier kijkers ontnemen je direct je adem. Je hoeft er geen schrik van te hebben, want de twee vrienden die je op de cover vindt, zien er ook niet direct heel stoer uit. Ook binnenin vind je deze prachtige illustraties op bijna iedere bladzijde terug. Deze tekeningen zijn een grote aanvulling bij de tekst. Ze geven een extra kracht aan de geschreven woorden. Men heeft voor een groter lettertype gekozen, dit komt alleen maar ten goede voor die lezertjes die starten aan hun eerste leesboeken. Hier en daar wordt gebruikt gemaakt van verschillende lettergroottes, waardoor sommige woorden extra aandacht krijgen. Die woorden geven ook een extra swung aan het verhaal.

Funnybones is a great short story that decpicts the tale of three skeletons, big skeleton, little skeleton and dog skeleton. The three skeletons go out for a night walk with the intentions of scaring some people, however they can't find anyone to scare. During the course of the walk they visit the zoo, re-assemble the dog skeleton and set about scaring each other. De ouders van Ben hebben alles uit de kast gehaald om met hem een onvergetelijk verjaardagsfeest te vieren. Eén probleem. Niemand is op de uitnodiging af gekomen. Een grote ontgoocheling voor Ben. Gelukkig is zijn denkbeeldig vriendje Wauw wel aanwezig. Maar daar heeft de papa helemaal genoeg van. Hij vindt nu Ben tien jaar oud geworden is, dat hij maar eens echte vrienden moet zoeken. Helemaal ontredderd en ontgoocheld vlucht Ben het huis uit. Groot is zijn verbazing als er uit het niets zijn vriend Wauw echt tevoorschijn komt. Maar niet iedereen is blij met die vriendschap. Nieuwsgierig welke avonturen ze samen gaan beleven?
