All he wants is some peace and quiet to blow off some steam, but when he arrives home his daughter Avery is there unexpectedly. Avery is mouthy and uncontrollable, so William immediately loses his temper with her (after all, he has had a bad day). After William and Avery’s confrontation, Avery leaves the house and does not return.

This was just great entertainment. It’s a book I wanted to find as many hours a day as possible to listen to. I tore through it. I had no clue who committed the murders. Such a great ending! As the tension reached its peak, I couldn't help but feel a surge of adrenaline, my heart racing with anticipation. The final chapters delivered a satisfying resolution, tying up loose ends and leaving me with a sense of closure. It was a masterful conclusion that left me pondering. I rarely DNF books, and I almost never do it when I get a review copy, but I completely understand why one would chose not to finish this novel, as it was too repetitive with all the he said she said parts that it became boring. The story is told from the omniscient POV so we get to see what everyone's thinking. The best part of the writing is how Lapena perfectly captures each parent’s guilt, the distrust, the what if gaGripping, clever, and tightly plotted, EVERYONE HERE IS LYING showcases Shari Lapena at her absolute best. I was utterly transfixed. A must-read.” Not a Happy Family is a dysfunctional family whodunit mystery. I'm really digging these plots right now. No, this story isn't very original and reminds me of the movie "Knives Out", but I'm still entertained from start to finish.
