About this deal

By default, every new Unity scene contains a Directional Light. This is linked to the procedural sky system defined in the Environment Lighting section of the Lighting Panel (Lighting>Scene>Skybox). You can change this behaviour by deleting the default Directional Light and creating a new light or simply by specifying a different GameObject from the ‘Sun’ parameter (Lighting>Scene>Sun). If you want to make one of these designs, the app provides a template to follow. Hang the paper grid on the wall and the template shows you exactly where to mount each clip. This is a great feature, as it lets you create a clear, well-defined design without any trial and error.

The number indicates the diameter of the base or the distance between the pins (depending on the bulb type) in millimetres. E14 – an Edison screw, 14mm in diameter. Mostly used in lamps (also referred to as an SES - small Edison screw).

Of course, I didn’t choose to go that route while setting up the lights in my home. I wanted to create my own design, so I sketched it on the wall using a pencil and then started attaching clips along the outline.

Shapelights bring atmosphere to any indoor or outdoor space.
