About this deal

The Death Guard are carriers of countless infections and contagions, each a gift from Nurgle. Whenever they march to war, these diseases spread, contaminating all around, sapping the strength of its victims, draining them of energy, withering their muscles and overwhelming their immune system. Such is its malefic nature, they can even undo metallic bonds, alien psychic materials and all manner of other elements and components, rendering even armoured vehicles vulnerable. If every unit from your army has the DEATH GUARD keyword (excluding UNALIGNED units), this unit gains the following ability: Entropy cannons: Heavy 1 S8 AP-4 D D6. Pretty much a las cannon. If you grab two of these on the sponsons the Crawler becomes the promised artillery piece, but i certainly would not call it mobile. The plagueburst crawler does not have a rule that lets it move and ignore the penalty to shoot heavy weapons, meaning its very bad BS of 4+ becomes a 5+ the second you move or are wounded. If you are wounded and move that 5+ becomes a 6+. But let us assume you park the crawler on an objective, dont move all game and just shoot. While you are not in a lower wound profile your ballistic skill is still a 4+. You would have a mortar, shooting D6 for an average of 3.5 shots resulting in 1.75 hits. You then have two entropy cannons resulting in 1 hit. The heavy slugger then adds another 2 heavy bolter hits to that. That’s alright but not very exciting for the price point in my opinion. And that damage output drops drastically as soon as you get wounded. Moreover it might be my local meta, but every other game i am playing against Alpha Legion, Stygies VIII, Alaitoc Eldar, Tzeentch Daemons with a changeling, Dark Angels with a Darkshroud, Raven Guard, flyers such as Stormravens…. Your mileage may vary but in my local meta a BS of 4+ degrading and not ignoring heavy penalties just does not cut the mustard.

Indeed it does! Thanks @McElMcNinja for the topic - i hope you don't mind but I've taken the liberty of editing the title and tags to make it into a unit of the week post - we were due one here anyway, so why not Plagueburst Crawlers! Using a sponge or a small brush, dab on patches of brown or orange paint to simulate rust and decay on the armor. For instance, you can use Rhinox Hide or Jokaero Orange to create these effects. Your Army is slow. Real slow. Few of your non-vehicle units have more than 5” Movement, and your terminators and poxwalkers have been saddled with 4”. That means some of your movements are going to be deliberate and telegraphed to opponents, making it easy for opponents to plan for your tactics. Become familiar with the Rapid Ingress Stratagem, because it’s going to be a key tool in your arsenal when it comes to putting terminators into a position to do things. You can also mitigate this somewhat with faster units and more vehicles. The Icon Bearer ups the unit’s OC but his real value is a once-per game 12″ Contagion range aura, giving you the ability to surprise unsuspecting enemy units with -1 to their saves or hit rolls. This can also work through walls, opening up enemy units to early bombardments from your PBCs that functionally hit at AP-2. Putting this unit in a Rhino means your turn 1 Contagion threat range is effectively 27″.It used to be in 8th that the Mortar was almost a secondary weapon. What are people's thoughts these days? Heldrake • Stormbird • Thunderhawk • Chaos Storm Eagle • Chaos Fire Raptor • Hell Blade • Hell Talon • Harbinger • Chaos Dreadclaw • Kharybdis Assault Claw • Fire Lord • Doom Wing

Chaos Space Marines • Havocs • Chosen • Chaos Terminators • Possessed • Greater Possessed • Khorne Berzerkers • Plague Marines • Noise Marines • Rubric Marines • Obliterators • Mutilators • Chaos Spawn • Fallen Angels • Noxious Blightbringer • Foul Blightspawn • Biologus Putrifier • Blightlord Terminators • Deathshroud While it’s unlikely you’ll see success building around 30-40 plague marines, taking 1-2 units is plenty viable with the current army and environment, where Wraithknights no longer trivially wipe a squad in Overwatch. A unit of 10 Plague Marines can be outfitted with 4 heavy plague weapons (including the first on the champion), 2 blight launchers, and 2 each of plague belchers and plague spewer and for my money this is the best way to equip them – it makes them a terrifying Overwatch unit, especially when paired with the blightspawn, while giving them a pretty nasty melee punch. Using a small brush, paint areas that represent ooze and slime with colors like Nurgle’s Rot or Moot Green. Apply thin layers to build up the desired effect, and consider adding small touches of gloss varnish to enhance the wet appearance. Both Mortarion and Magnus the Red are excellent choices for an Apocalypse army. They’re both Psykers, they can both Fly and they are both utterly deadly in shooting and close combat. As an added bonus, both of them also grant benefits to any members of their Legion who are close by. Scabrous Soulrot (Aura): While an enemy unit is within Contagion Range of this unit, worsen the Leadership and Objective Control characteristics of models in that enemy unit by 1 (to a minimum of 1). The same technique can also work with a coarse salt like kosher salt. Instead of applying the hair spray, use water to deposit clumps of salt on areas that you want to see weathered. After painting, you can then remove the salt to reveal fine details bits of corrosion. Once you get used to the technique you can get a sense of what does and doesn’t work for your particular style, and combine effects as needed. Sponge Chipping, Layers, and Slathered Oil Paint – Felime
