About this deal

TM20k is an ideal companion for night outings in particular for research, camping, use in industry and law enforcement. Lastly, there’s the mode button. This changes brightness and can the proportion of spot vs flood. When the light is on then tapping the mode button changes brightness. Holding the button allows you to access the special floodlight and spotlight modes. Not forgetting my previous comments about the tactical mode, the momentary output in this mode is great for searching especially when other people are around and you don’t want to blind them. The TM20K is one solid chunk of metal. It’s fairly heavy and feels very well built. The rectangular shape means it’s easier to grip than a light with 3 cells.

Something that might be a ‘pro’ for one user can be a ‘con’ for another, so the comments are categorised based on my requirements. You should consider all points and if they could be beneficial to you. On the box, in addition to the photo, there are technical details of the new Nitecore and serial number. Trong các điều kiện môi trường đặc biệt, việc sử dụng đèn pin cần tuân theo các quy định cụ thể như sau: Nitecore's top model is quite expensive and therefore you need to decide for yourself if its price is worth what you will use it for. On the other hand this is a light that will mostly be used by professionals such as guides or law enforcement, making it a part of your daily gear and definitely worth its price. My conclusionThe High brightness levels is customisable between 400-2000 lumens (1000 lumens is the default). The runtime is tested in the default brightness without the temperature regulation. These days NITECORE presented the new TM20K. As assumed by the initials, Nitecore's new powerful Tiny Monster can deliver up to 20,000 lumens with a maximum intensity of 22,200cd, through 19 CREE XP-L HD LEDs, and covers a maximum distance of 290 meters with its beam. TM20K has small and compact dimensions, enough to fit comfortably inside the palm of the hand and has an innovative simple and functional operating system. The construction materials and all the technology adopted for this new Nitecore are remarkable. Turbo: 20,000 lumens - burst only (press and hold Turbo Ready switch, release to revert to previous mode)

Most of the modes use the spot and flood LEDs, with ultralow and spotlight modes only using the center one and the floodlight mode only using the outer ones. Nitecore’s marketing information lists this button as activating strobe too but I haven’t figured out how to do that as I don’t have the user manual. I’m pretty sure that there isn’t a dedicated strobe mode or if there is then it’s not easy to access. The Nitecore TM12K flashlight has an incredible maximum output of 12000 lumens from the 6 x Cree XHP50 LEDs and is powered by a built-in li-ion 21700 battery. The torch is rechargeable via the USB-C port at the base of the light and can fully charge the battery in as little as 1.5 hours. High mode sustains around 3000 lumens for 7 minutes, drops down to medium’s 1700 lm for a minute, then trundles along at about 900 lumens for 4 hours. For this light I miss a good low mode: even on a big light I believe a 5-lumen mode or less is a must. Great in emergency situations to provide yourself with enough light for a longer period of time and also practical if you use the light indoors. There is also quite a gap between the highest and turbo mode (from 3100 to 20000) lumens; in between you can, in my humble opinion, easily fit another level. Value for money?

The TM20k has a sleek, lightweight, rigid and durable body constructed with aero grade aluminium alloy. Cooling fins on the head of the light help aid heat dissipation. The ambidextrous lever button will access turbo or strobe, depending on which was last used, when either side of the button is held down. This can be accessed from on/off in mode 1, or from off in mode 2, and to change between strobe and turbo press the mode button while still holding down the lever button. The strobe or turbo will turn off when the lever button is released. The memory function will remember the previously used brightness level or special mode when it is next turned on. The TM12K is operated by the dual side switches and tail switch, which has a built-in indicator. The multi-functional OLED display screen provides useful information including the current mode, battery voltage, power level, temperature and remaining runtime. In Tactical Mode we can choose the desired level by briefly pressing the Mode button while holding the Power button to scroll through the following brightness levels: ULTRALOW - LOW - MID - HIGH.

The Runtime were done in a closed environment with an ambient temperature of about 20 °C with the internal batteries of the TM20k fully charged. The numerical values in "Candela", taken with the aid of the LX1330B Luxmeter, are equal to or higher than those declared by the parent company. In mode 1 press the circular power button to turn the torch on or off, and change the brightness level with the torch on by pressing the side mode button to cycle through ultralow, low, mid and high. To access the special modes press and hold the mode button with the light on to change between spotlight or floodlight and release on the desired mode. Press the mode button once to exit the special modes and return to the previously used brightness level. In mode 2 press and hold the power button for momentary illumination in the previously used brightness setting, and change the brightness level by pressing the mode button to cycle through ultralow, low, mid, high while still holding the power button. My preference is always for removable/replaceable batteries, but the other side to this is the guaranteed performance of the cells chosen by Nitecore to power this Tiny Monster, and the simplification of the design as it doesn’t need a battery door. Being a super high performance light, the cell characteristics are critical, so we can take the built-in cells as a positive point. In terms of handling and the interface, although the TM20K lists ‘tactical’ modes, the layout of buttons and ease of access to them would not be my choice for use in a pressured situation. General use, and even search and rescue use, but not reaction or time critical scenarios where you might miss buttons or press ones you didn’t mean to. The TM20K will head stand, tail stand and stay put when lying sideways, thanks to its flat surfaces.
