About this deal

Some of the stuff is based on real life stuff but most of it is not and is fiction. Most of it is stuff that I read in books or I am just ripping off other people’s work from TV and films. I basically just steal from people and their lives and the internet, TV, cinema, I basically just steal off everyone left right and centre.” Gilbert, Matthew (21 September 2018). "TV's new shows this fall, from binge to cringe". The Boston Globe . Retrieved 17 July 2020. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the film for me is that it is so Australian-centric, for want of a better word. This film isn't trying to imitate Tarantino (like ever other debut film featuring a gun fight), nor is it making a desperate grab for international attention, like most of the dreary "quirky" (i.e. crap) comedies receiving funding from the government. The result is a highly distinctive film that feels completely original. Even though Ryan has been working on this story since the 90’s he said he did not settle on the final conclusion till the filming of season two of the show. Title origin: Going to university for graphic design, Zoe tells Ray that "I'm your girl" should he ever need a job done.

Knox, David (9 August 2017). "Production underway on local FX drama, Mr Inbetween". TV Tonight . Retrieved 31 August 2017.

For my money, there are two truly untouchable Australian TV shows: Love My Way and Mr Inbetween. But while the former has found a revered place in Australian pop cultural history, it feels as though Mr Inbetween is still waiting to get its due. Even as it’s been written up in publications like the New York Times and found a cult audience abroad, viewers at home have been slower to hear the good word. Nicholas Cassim as Bruce Shoesmith, Ray's older brother who has a motor neuron disease (seasons 1–2)

Ray and Gary discover that one of their associates is an undercover cop, but Ray decides to drive him out into the wilderness and let him go rather than kill him.
