Mr. Mean is the 19th book in the Mr. Men series by Roger Hargreaves. Mr. Mean is a miser who never spends a penny of his money. He is so mean he gives his brother a piece of coal for Christmas. One day a wizard starts disguising himself as a number of people in need. Each time Mr. Mean rejects helping them, a spell is placed on a part of his body, such as his nose turning into a carrot, and his ears turning into tomatoes. He gives help when he realizes his feet are about to fall under a spell. Then he spends his money, and now he gives his brother two pieces of coal for Christmas. Mr. Mean appears under the titles Mr. Stingy (USA), Monsieur Avare (French), Don Tacañete (Spanish), Unser Herr Geizig (German), 구두쇠씨 (Korean), Senhor Cruel (Portuguese), 吝嗇先生 (Taiwan), Ο Κύριος Τσιγκούνης (Greek), Meneertje Gierig (Dutch). His story is neither a look into his life nor a cautionary tale, but a straightforward Christmas Special. Uncanny Valley: His skin color along with how hunched he looks whenever he stands upright makes him look quite off-putting, which is likely why his design was changed so much for The Mr. Men Show. Aesop Enforcer: He helps teach Little Miss Brave about resilience in ''Mr. Men, Little Miss: Try Again. Never has Mr. Cheerful been without a smile. From breakfast in the morning to his bath at night. He was even happy when it rained! When he met Mr. Funny, he was so happy that he pulled off a funnier face than he usally does. One day, he runs into Little Miss Splendid who begins to smile, but then complains about Mr. Cheerful not raising his hat. For the first time in his life, Mr. Cheerful lost his smile—and blushed bright red. Miss Splendid finally talks him into raising his hat, showing the total of only three hairs on his head. Miss Splendid tells Mr. Cheerful that it is his big bright smile that everyone loves, not how many hairs he has on his head. So from that day on, Mr. Cheerful was once again, never without a smile. And everyone he passes leaves with a smile. There's only one thing left to say... hats off to Mr. Cheerful!

Mr. Mischief loves to play mean pranks on other Mr. Men. For example, he bakes Mr Greedy a cake made out of toothpaste and mud! However, one day he gets a taste of his own medicine... Mr. SnowMr Snow is made totally from snow. When it snowed 2 days before Christmas, all the kids were very excited because it had never ever snowed so much in one day! Oddball in the Series: The only "negative" Mr. Man who ends his story learning nothing and not changing for the better in any way. This is because the people around him essentially gaslight him into thinking he's doing everything right by constantly telling him he's doing a good job. As a result, he remains just as a muddled as he's always been, if not more. Rhymes on a Dime: When using her magic in both the 1995 TV series and 2008 Mr. Men Show, Little Miss Magic often uses long rhyming incantations as she does so. Consummate Liar: In her own story, she managed to deceive Mr. Clever. Keep in mind that the latter's meant to be one of the smartest people in Misterland.Karma Houdini: she normally averts this trope, but there are a few occasions where she isn't brought to justice for her actions: Koko the Gorilla has escaped from the zoo and is wreaking the havoc in Misterland. Mr. Brave is called in to capture him, but this is no easy task: Koko has imitated King Kong and has kidnapped Little Miss Splendid, taking her to the top of a very high building. Can Mr. Brave's bravery save the day? Mr. Messy is the 8th book in the Mr. Men series by Roger Hargreaves. Mr. Messy is pink and really messy but has a really nice smile. Mr. Messy lives in a messy house until Mr. Neat and Mr. Tidy come to clean his house and give him a bath (his first ever, as the bathroom had previously been the messiest of the house). He becomes neat and thinks he has to change his name. Mr. Messy then becomes clean.

Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: The Midnight Tree is one of the few antagonists in the series that tries to kill somebody. One day he goes to school with a boy named William. He proves he can do anything in some amazing ways!

His house isn't a Bizarrchitecture reflection of what he is, being very a simple one-story house with a chimney on the center of its roof. Animals Hate Him: Well, it seems Badland animals did. His book features an image of him being chased by a dog accompanied by the sentence "In Badland, a dog's bite is worse than its bark." Vague Age: In his book, Little Miss Splendid calls him "young man." This implies that he may be one of the younger Mr. Men, but it is not known how old he may be. Evil Redhead: Little Miss Trouble is one of the series' rare redheads, and while evil is definitely pushing it, she's certainly one of the biggest troublemakers around and revels in making mischief. In the French dub of Mr. Men and Little Miss, he is voiced by a woman, thus giving him the voice of a prepubescent boy.

Go-Karting with Bowser: Despite her tendency to play pranks on the other Mr. Men and Little Misses, she is occasionally shown taking part in special occassions or going on holidays with them. Rector Allison Hardy led the service and had to comfort his sobbing parents as they left the ceremony. But Mr. Clever is also very smug. He believes that no one can get the better of him, because of his superior intelligence.

They insisted they wanted his funeral to be a celebration of his life - the party they had never had the chance to give him. Bizarrchitecture: Averted. His house is arguably the most normal-looking house in Misterland, with the only bizarre thing about it being how dilapidated it is due to him refusing to spend his money renovating it. Sudden Name Change: Like Little Miss Greedy, his name was changed from Mr. Uppity to Mr. Snooty due to the word "uppity" having a racist history.
