About this deal

They’re joined by an Eversor Assassin, presumably for the levity of his presence and not because a murderously volatile living bomb is exactly what you need in an operations zone separated from the freezing cold of space by less than a metre of bulkhead… If you want to, you can use Boarding Actions missions as part of a Crusade campaign – there are just some elements of it, such as some Agendas, that won’t work with Boarding Actions. This makes Boarding Actions especially suited for players in a gaming club (where someone else has already bought all the expensive scenery) starting their first foray into 40K, since you can slowly build up your force and enjoy watching it gain experience through the Crusade rules, while also playing with your smaller army in a setting that matches that smaller scale. Movement and Distance The biggest change to get your head around in Boarding Actions if you’re used to playing 40K is that distance between two models isn’t measured linearly if a piece of Boarding Action scenery is between them. Instead, the distance is measured by measuring the distance one model would travel to go around that scenery towards the other model. This is because Boarding Actions doesn’t really have a vertical dimension: There’s a solid metal ceiling above your units at all time, so all scenery is as impenetrable as the edge of the battlefield (unless there’s a hatchway, which we cover below). This means that two models can be half an inch from each other, but if there’s a wall between them on that half an inch, they could be really far apart anyway in terms of game rules. Special Actions and Abilities So many Boarding Patrols have launched over the last few months, it’s a wonder there’s any fighting left to do on actual planets at all. There’s more to come from the Arks of Omen yet, as the machinations of Vashtorr and Abaddon come to a brutal head in the forthcoming fifth book in the series – The Lion .

They are easy to get shot down if you aren't careful, but if you can get them into combat they will pummel/slice their way through anything you throw at them. Combine that with the legendary mole grenade launcher, and you've got yourself an awesome unit. Hernkyn Pioneers Clad in bulky exo-armour with a rune-etched RAM shield and Autoch-pattern combi-bolter, the Einhyr Champion leads the assault with impunity. Alongside him are five elite Einhyr Hearthguard, plus a squad of Cthonian Beserks, wielding powerful mining tools that double as weapons of war, and ten Hearthkyn Warriors armed with a variety of powerful hulk-cleansing wargear. Boarding Patrol: Leagues of Votann provides a balanced force of technologically advanced warriors, ideally suited to seizing resources and victory in games of Warhammer 40,000 – especially in the dense and deadly Boarding Action missions detailed in the Arks of Omen series – and will save you money compared to buying the kits separately.

Boarding Patrol: Leagues of Votann – Price, Value & Savings Summary Operate Hatchway: This can also be performed in the Movement Phase, and allows a unit to try to open a door in the Boarding Actions terrain. If there’s an enemy unit on the other side of the door trying to prevent you from opening it and passing through, you roll off to see if you succeed. The most important thing to say about getting started with Boarding Actions is that, unlike Kill Team, it’s not a particularly easy, beginner-friendly way of getting into the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Right now I’d say they project as more of a mid-tier force than a top-tier one, and will still act as a brutal counter to elite armies that depend on higher-toughness units. The army still has access to solid datasheets and a tremendous range of Stratagems that are cheap from a CP standpoint, and they’ve got plenty of firepower to work with. In the vast Warhammer 40,000 universe, every miniature carries the potential to shape the tides of battle, symbolizing not just a unit but a storied legacy. Embrace the essence of these celestial voyagers and forge your narrative in the vastness of realspace. What’s in the Boarding Patrol: Leagues of Votann box?

Overall this is a really great start to any Votann army. It gives you some key core units and some harder hitting ones. From here you can expand in different ways depending on your personal preferences. The fact that all but the bikes are usable as a Boarding Patrol is just a bonus. If you decide to go the route of these vertically challenged armoured warriors, this is the place to start. This guy is your powerhouse and is made of pure stubborn. Kahls are similar but this guy just takes it up another level. He is hard to kill, you'd have to focus him down, and has some really nasty weapon options for close combat. If you can keep him from getting shot off the table too soon, he'll take many enemies down with him. Cthonian BeserkersThe final two Warhammer 40k Boarding Patrols, for the Leagues of Votann and the Agents of the Imperium have been announced by GW. These are sort of like small Combat Patrol boxes explicitly made to be fielded for the new Boarding Actions. So, expect them all to have a lot of foot sloggers. x5 Einhyr Hearthguard Miniatures– an unstoppable elite force, clad in formidable exo-armour and equipped with a fearsome array of weaponry, serving as bodyguards or striking deep into enemy territory with ease. Azrael isn’t the only Chapter Master given the Primaris treatment – Commander Dante has barely tied a bow on the apocalyptic invasion of Baal and he’s already off finding more enemies of the Imperium to destroy. Someone really needs to give the guy a holiday. Vashtorr the Arkifane The Lion has risen from his 10,000-year slumber, and he’s wasting no time putting traitors to the sword. The Primarch of the Dark Angels is a monstrously powerful duelist and indomitable battlefield leader, armed with the Emperor’s own shield and a massive power sword named Fealty. Your first chance to get him is in this celebratory launch set.*

This novel takes the Lion on a quest through the shadowed paths between stars to gather loyal knights to his side once more, though many have long since been hunted as members of the Fallen. Unsure of who to trust, and without the aid of his Legion, his father, and his home, the Lion will need to find his place in a galaxy even less forgiving than the one he left. Embark on a saga of conquest and discovery with the Boarding Patrol: Leagues of Votann set, a treasure trove for Warhammer 40,000 enthusiasts. These stoic Kin, renowned for their valiant hearts and pioneering spirits, bring the thrill of adventure to your tabletop games. Each figure in this box set is a testament to the rich history of the Leagues, showcasing their unique powers and abilities. With a multipart kit, customize your warriors to reflect the vaunted prowess and technological mastery that these celestial explorers are known for.If you prefer your anti-tank options a little more discrete, the Sicaran Venator trades mass for speed and can wind its way around enemy flanks before lancing neutron beam laser blasts right through the sides of opposing tanks. Set to Defend: This can also be performed in the Movement Phase, and gives your unit a +1 to hit rolls in close combat until the end of your opponent’s next turn. First, the fact that it still runs on modified Warhammer 40,000 rules, so you have to get a couple of 40K rulebooks just to know how it plays and what your army can do, and second, the fact that the game’s missions are very much dependent on you owning the specific (and very expensive) scenery for playing inside Arks of Omen released by Games Workshop. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/09/29/leagues-of-votann-balance-update-a-word-from-james-workshop/

If you don’t have any Characters in your Boarding Patrol detachment, you can selsect one of your unit champions as your Warlord. You can also select any special army traits granted by your codex (with some exceptions we’ll get into in the next section), and you can select an Enhancement instead of the Warlord Traits and relics you would normally use (more on that below as well). So we’ll take a look at the possible values soon. Final Two Warhammer 40k Boarding Patrols Announced By GW While most of what you need to know about playing Boarding Actions is to be found in the regular 40K ruleset, for which you can read our guide here, Mission SetupRules for playing Boarding Action games of Warhammer 40,000 can be found in the Arks of Omen: Abaddon supplement. Additional rules for Leagues of Votann Boarding Patrols can be found in Arks of Omen: The Lion . Alright, with that out of the way let’s dig into what changed. FAQ: Eye of the Ancestors auto-wounds no longer count as a 6 to wound That said, I don't want to go too deep on the stats of each unit with 10th edition so close at hand. It wouldn't be very useful. So I'll just give you an overall impression of what they are and what they're good at. Uthar The Destined
